Use of ip to rs485 and rs232 converter
« on: April 29, 2014, 07:51:16 pm »
Hello everyone,

Some of the device still use rs485 or rs232.
I wonder if it is possible to program almond+ to send
Command string using a ip to serial convertor.

Not out of the box, no.
You might be able to coax OpenWRT into working, but it might require some work and I think your best bet would be a USB to serial adapter, unless the distance is too long - https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=40841

I don't know how you'd talk to an IP to rs485/rs232 device, but technically it should work, as long as you can figure out how to get commands to/from OpenWRT to the IP to serial bridge.
