Title: Three PEQ Zigbee HA 1.2 Sensors for $19.99 each at Best Buy
Post by: grouter on August 13, 2015, 11:24:37 am
Three to choose from, appear to be the same as Smart Things sensors, free shipping + tax.

motion + temp - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/peq-motion-sensor/8229135.p
water + temp - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/peq-water-sensor-white/8229309.p
contact + temp - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/peq-3-series-contact-sensor/8229286.p

I bought some of each and two of them showed with free expedited shipping.

Thanks. I logged in just for this. Do you know if the contact sensor has terminals for external switches ? Also, It looks like they are multi sensors and support temperature as well.

Does Almond+ support these functions as well ?

I don't know any answers to your questions yet. You could check the Smart Things site for more sensor specs.

SmartThings posts mostly seem to indicate that these are CentraLite 3-Series that are repackaged (different shell and name). If they are, no there is no external switch capability. Looking elsewhere for PEQ-specific specs it proving difficult...

So I got the door sensor and the water sensor delivered today and both of them said Association Failed.

@Ashok - Any idea if these can be supported ? If not, I'll have to return them.

Looking over some past posts it appears some people were able to use PEQ devices... in the past. This looks like the HUGE concern I worry about with ZigBee... manufacturers updating their stuff to only work with the people they want them to.

Maybe Securifi can figure out what the changes are that prevents it from working though.

I hope that @Securifi @Ashok can make this work. I thought this would go the Lowes IRIS way, but smartthings support these sensors, so I am hopeful that they can be made to work.

@Ashok - I have sent the logs.

I paired the first motion sensor without issue. Sensor #2 and #3 failed.

UPDATE: Backed out of the Add Sensor app, reset a sensor and associated fine. Repeated for the third sensor. Now, on to the water and switches!

UPDATE 2: Successfully added a water sensor on the second try after resetting the sensor. One of the door & window sensors needed a reset to pair, but the other joined just fine. Not sure if having the sensors close to the A+ (less than 2') helped with pairing.

I am very interested to know if the water and the door sensor work.

Yep, got them all added. Now to test...

Yep, all sensors work and report very quickly when change is detected. The "tamper" feature of the sensors also works. None of them showed as having temperature sensing.

I was not able to get the door/window sensor to pair even after resetting.  I got the following in the system log:

I tried again and was able to pair the PEQ 3 door/window sensor.  I am not exactly sure why it paired this time.  It could be that the timing of the add sensor key-press and the sensor pair initiation is critical.

Good news!

How are these working out for you folks?

The only issue is sometimes adding a sensor fails, but if they don't on the first try most pair on the second try. All sensors are working, including temperature and tamper alerts, so I'm pretty stoked!

I could add my water sensors with temperature, tamper and the actual water sensor, but the contact sensor was no go. Also, I think I need a zigbee repeater. Any idea which would be the cheapest zigbee extender on the market ?

I was pleasantly surprised at the little amount of water required for these sensors to trigger.

Doesn't the Peanut Plug repeat? I thought all zigbee stuff was mesh... Placing it between your "far away" sensor and the a+ might help.

Yes peanut ( like all ZB devices) acts as a repeater and extends the mesh

Slight clarification, the Peanut Plug will act as a ZigBee extender, but not all ZigBee devices do. ALMOST every non-battery ZigBee device will act as an extender. But I have not seen any that will be an extender while battery powered.

Where is the pairing and reset button on the motion and window sensors. Tried to pair and it fails and no instructions on how to reset devices.

Remove the cover and pull the battery. The reset/pairing button is in the largest hole next to the battery slot. Hold the reset button down while inserting the battery to trigger pairing.

Some of mine were difficult to fully remove the battery and I found I only needed to pull up one side of the battery a bit while holding the reset button to get things going.

I have paired the motion sensors and using the A+ app it recognized there is motion. But, I cannot figure out how to reset the status. It always say MOTION DETECTED.
