Nest announced it's compatibility with some other home automation systems.. Any plans to support Nest in future updates?

Its is a big change from Nest's original stand where they intentionally were blocking vendors from accessing their device and the API was reverse engineered... Speaking from a tech point of view, (my own thought, not Securifi).... The more open the API, the more likely they will support it... Give it time... Id still put Nest under the "proprietary" label for now

Plans, yes. The problem is that they haven't responded to any of our requests as yet.

Their API is now published and they have example code on their site https://developer.nest.com/documentation

I guess I was wrong, we've apparently been approved as a developer and we'll be adding support for the Nest products over the next couple of months, but it will most likely not be until after the automation is in place.

What id love to see from an automation standpoint is the ability to not only control the nest through almond, but also the ability to use it as a datasource. IE close the blinds when a room hits a certain temp, put the thermostat into away mode when there hasn't been any motion on a rooms sensor for a few hours, and so on.
-
That should be possible once the automation is done.
-
That is good news. Does it also mean that in a future firmware update the Almond+ will fully support the Nest connecting to it via Wi-Fi properly too? I'd rather not be using another access point just for the Nest to get its Internet connection.
-
I hope so, I can't make promises about things we haven't made yet, but that's the plan at least.

Any update on this? Is the NEST supported now on Almond+?
Thanks!

As an anecdote, I don't think Nest support is really useful. Sure it sounds nice to be able to control your Nest and the rest of your HA stuff from one place, adding a Nest to a HA solution has a lot of caveats. I have three coworkers who are all into HA pretty heavy using different solutions (Wink, SmartThings, and HomeSeer). All three hooked up their Nests to their HA network and promptly removed the link. The case? The Nest no longer thinks for itself when connected to another system. Things like presence and smart scheduling stop working in the Nest software. Basically you lose everything that the Nest offers so you can change the temp remotely (which you can already do through the Nest app).
Just wanted to add this feedback here.

It's coming, no ETA, but my understanding is that it's close.

Any update on this?

Not immediately, should be announced once done.

I am so looking forward to automation....because I'm really getting tempted to go with the products for Apple that are using the HOMEKIT
