Title: Siri and Widget integration for iOS
Post by: utrph77004 on September 23, 2016, 06:00:25 pm
Now that Siri has 3rd party functionality, this would be great.  Also having selected widget control would be awesome, as a backup alternative.

I don't know about the Siri business but widgets can be done right now with the DO button app by IFTTT which work very well. I don't love the widget implementation in iOS when compared to Android widgets but its a start.

It does not have complete third party functionality. These are the categories that Apple allows.

For iOS 10.0, the Siri API will only work with six kinds of application: ride booking (think Uber), messaging, Photo Search (find photos and videos in a particular app), payments (‘Send $100 to John with SquareCash’), VoIP Calling (e.g: Skype) and Workouts (for starting health and fitness activities) …

As you probably know, Almond does not fit in that category. In fact the only way Almond can be used with Siri is via Homekit and that requires hardware changes. So basically Siri control cannot come to any existing Securifi devices.
