Weather App worked successfully for 3 months. This morning I tapped weather app ,,,goes to updating screen then back to main menu. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi there,
I just checked here in the office and it's working fine. Could you please provide your location (city) and internet service provider you're with and we'll look into the issue for you.
If you're not comfortable doing it openly on the forums, you can either send me a PM here, or email our support team at suppport@securifi.com and they'll help you figure out what the issue could be.
-
Cheked both weather and time application . both are working fine now
-
I have the same problem with the weather app. It was not displaying this morning and when I try, it goes back to main page.
-
Can you PM me your location and ip address range, or alternatively email our support team with the same information at support@securifi.com and we'll look into what's going on.

My Weather App stopped working yesterday 2013-11-24 as well, but it it working now. My ISP was having issues, so I initially blamed them. It is working fine today.

My weather app has not been working for several days. I have power-cycled both my router and my Securifi, but to no avail. I am in Bloomington, IN and AT&T is my ISP.

Yes, the issue seems to have returned here in Victoria, BC Canada too, (in case location matters). It has been like this for several days.
(My Almond is definitely connected to the Internet prior to running this test, and this PC I'm typing this from is behind my Almond).
It progresses as follows:

This output suggests that the Weather App is actually loading, but that it is crashing, and returning to Home screen upon crashing.
I hope this gets fixed quickly, I've become quite attached to the Weather App, especially as Victoria, has just entered the icky "Snowfall" season.
Our Data provider has been having issues, and we are working with them to resolve these issues. We will get this resolved as quickly as possible.
Are these the same symptoms everyone else is experiencing?
-
I too am having this issue. In Portland, OR with Comcast xfinity.
-
This is related to our service provider and for whatever reason, it seems to only affect certain regions at a time. We're working on resolving this with our service provider, so please bare with us.
-
My Weather application is crashing as well. Will it be working okay soon?
-
It's not the app crashing, the issue is that the weather data isn't being sent through and it's something we're working on trying to resolve. As we're relying on a third party for the weather service, we sadly don't have full control of things and have to rely on them solving the main part of this issue.
We're sorry about the inconvenience and we're working on ways of improving things.
-
Any updates on the weather app issue? I miss having the weather at a glance.
-
The problem is that we don't have full control of the weather data and it's working in some places, in others not. Have you tried it during different times of the day? I have it working right next to me in the office, but we're aware of the issue and we're working on a long term solution that should hopefully be part of the next firmware update.

My Weather application is crashing as well.

I just got back from CES in Las Vegas and it was working fine during the time we were there (well, when we actually managed to get connected to the internet), so this is clearly a random problem. We're still working with our data partner on trying to figure this one out.
-
Hey everyone,
I just purchased the Almond and I am really happy with the performance so far. However, the weather app is not working for me as well. As others have said, it just goes to the loading screen for a couple seconds and then back to the main menu. Is there currently a server issue?
-
As mentioned before, it's an issue with our service provider, for some reason the requested data isn't available at all times.
We're working on a solution for this, but it requires a new firmware. Right now, our software team is busy getting the Almond+ ready for launch and once that's done, we'll be updating the Almond with a new firmware that fixes the weather app issues.
-
I realize it's BETA and needs a firmware update, just wanted to say it's not working in SW Florida with Comcast (regardless of time of day, it looks like it's loading and goes back to Home screen). Will wait for the Update.
-
Interesting, as that's different from the normal issues.
It suggests that it can't even reach the server, which isn't the same problem.
In most cases, the weather data is simply not provided and you see an error message.
Are you running the latest firmware (R196)?
-
Yes, software is up-to-date (R196). I performed a factory reset, and the weather now appears, although it's nowhere near correct. Showing current temperature as 27F/2C (H52/L28) (refreshed several times). Actual weather forecast: Currently 68F, H86/L64.
Does the Almond use the ISP's IP addy to lookup weather? If so, it looks like I'm getting a weather forecast for Dallas, TX opposed to SW Florida. This also might explain why my "time" keeps getting pushed back an hour when I "sync with host".
-
Yes, it's based on the IP address, as it's the only way the service provider we're working with can figure out roughly where you're located.
Had the same issue at CES, we used a T-Mobile MiFi device and the Almond thought it was in Texas too... strange coincidence no? :P
-
Originally I thought it was reporting weather for my IP address:
Comcast Cable, Dallas TX
Although upon further inspection, it's actually showing for: Potwin, KS. I went to Wunderground.com and sure enough, they think that I am in Potwin, KS as well (I am 1450 miles away).
Yahoo, Google, Weather.com all show my actual location. Oh well, I'll just turn the screen off on my Almond.
Edit: Ran Traceroute & Hop 12 of 17 is Kansas.
