Title: Sylvania Osram
Post by: GatorEye on January 20, 2014, 10:35:09 pm
I asked this question in another forum but it went unanswered and it's probably better asked here anyway. What was the model of that Sylvania Osram bulb you were testing with in the CES 2014 video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAdCM2-FPVE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAdCM2-FPVE) ? Was it WiFi/Zigbee?  Of all the bulbs of that sort is that the one you'd recommend? I've been wanting to purchase something (starting in my kitchen) but have been waiting to see what the Almond+ would work with and what actually looks good and works good. Granted it seems someone is coming out with some new bulb all the time. But since they are so expensive, I want to make the right choice the first time.

Sorry, I missed that one.

It's called the Sylvania Ultra iQ and should be sold by Lowe's in the US, as it's meant to be compatible with the Iris.
I don't know about the pricing, as we got the bulb from Osram for testing.
It's a ZigBee bulb and as you saw in the video, we have full control of it.
I'm afraid that the only other info I have is this https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/newsroom/press-releases/Pages/ultra-LED-iQ-BR30-intelligent-lamps.aspx

We haven't had the chance to test anything else yet, although I think we're adding support for the Phillips Hue hub, as due to them using ZigBee Light Link, we can't control their bulbs directly.
That said, we're looking at other solutions and we will be adding support for any bulbs that we can make work with the Almond+ regardless of if it's ZigBee, Z-Wave or Wi-Fi.

Looks like they're finally available - http://www.lowes.com/pd_484719-3-78960_4294713508__?productId=50057367
Not too crazy price either.
