Title: Offer up any built in sensors as working 'examples'
Post by: Ehryk on August 07, 2014, 08:22:25 am
Until I build/order some sensors for this, my sensors page sure is lonely.

I'm sure there are temperature sensors, either discrete ones on the board or integrated ones into some of the ICs accessible to the architecture. Why not present "Router Temperature" out as everyone's first sensor, the same way 'Tom' was everyone's first MySpace friend?

This would, I think, spark a lot more interest in the sensor page and sensors in general. Perhaps you could even set temperature alarms to notify you when your router (and, by extrapolation, perhaps your house) is too hot or too cold?

I suspect a simple firmware update would get every Almond+ owner a 'free sensor' and we'll all have a bit more fun with our routers.

Sorry for the late reply, things have been manic here this week.

As far as I've been able to find out, we don't have any internal sensors like that. Most router SoC are pretty much void of any extra features of that kind, as it adds cost.
It's a cool idea though and maybe something we can do on a future product.

Many CPUs have an on-die temperature sensor.  On your web site all I can find is "ARM Cortex-A9 processor".  Any more details on the manufacturer and partner number of your CPU?

Also, I don't see any detailed Almond+ specs on the Wiki.  Are they there and I didn't see them?

I haven't really had time to add that, it's not really been that important.

Someone found the time to post the specs here for the Almond+
