If you have found any other options, please post. Plus it will be good to hear any results you have with yours. Valves for gas could be useful in many cases including emergency (fire alarm, shut off the gas first thing). Or for winterizing cottages/vacation homes, outside grill areas... Heck even a camper could benefit from one to make sure the gas flow is shut off.

This is where some integration with MySensors would help. There's a variety of gas sensors that can be made for less than $10 and in a much smaller case than a typical smoke detector type case.
