Please post any feedback related to R085 here.
-
Hi. I see something about support for the Echo, but no info on how to use it or set it up.
-
@ xtbs26,
We are working on adding a separate section for this which would happen any time now on our website. Meanwhile, you can go to Skills and search for Almond or Securifi and proceed with the on screen instructions.
Note: Select "Almond - Router and Home Automation"

When I upgraded to R085 my Schlage BE469N locks and several other Z-Wave sensors are no longer showing up under connected sensors on the web gui or android app. I downgraded the Firmware back to R83 and they are now showing back up.
-
Beta group members already have it? There is no need to reflash to what is released today, correct?

Answered elsewhere in the forunm. Disregard thanks.

When will email/SMS capability be integrated into the rules? I'd like to set up a rule where (for example) if I leave my windows open past 10pm, the A+ sends me an email or text to me as a reminder.

@ jcodyn,
When I upgraded to R085 my Schlage BE469N locks and several other Z-Wave sensors are no longer showing up under connected sensors on the web gui or android app. I downgraded the Firmware back to R83 and they are now showing back up.
That's very new and weird, could you please re-flash the firmware still same issue then hit send logs and check the performance by restarting the Almond+.
-
As soon as I updated to R085, I can see and connect to the Almond+ network, but I am unable to connect to the internet on my wireless devices. Everything was working fine before that.
My Almond+ is currently configured in range extender mode
The router diagnostics determine that there is an internet connection and all is well. I am able to log in to the router through its IP address and ping google.com consistently through the securifi settings interface.
I attempted to tweak some of the wireless network settings, rebooted the router several times before and after tweaking the wireless settings.
Unless anyone recommends any good troubleshooting steps to resolve this, I may attempt to roll back to a previous firmware version.
-
@ Drei,
As you have already tried couple of reboots, could you please perform a factory reset and then check the performance in Range Extender, if it still fails try to reboot your main router and then Almond+ that should solve the issue.
-
Reset to factory settings and set up again in Range Extender mode. I am able to connect again. Thank you
-
I was experiencing the same problem, but after resetting and reconfiguring it was fixed. The problem I have now is that after every reboot I have to go through all that process again... This did not happen on R083.
-
@ GK2020,
In order to confirm that the issue is related to firmware, could you please try reverting back to R83 and let us know the status.
-
Osram turnable white still listed as "unsupported device" after update. This is especially annoying since I only bought it after checking the supported device list I was hoping that this would finally be fixed.
-
@ Zexon83,
I am sorry about that, hopefully, our next release would take care of it and if you are interested then let me know, I would sign you up for Beta group to get the beta firmware.
-
Please provide a link to the updated Websocket API. Thanks.

Hi... I updated to R085 yesterday and now I cannot see my Rules when using the "root" Local Browser Control UI!! Where did they go?? Even if I press the "Rules" tab on the top, all I see below are the colored dialogs: Internet, Wireless 2.4G, Wireless 5G, Network.... etc ; "+ Click to Add Devices" ; "- Click to remove Devices" ; Network Devices: Blank... none listed. I cannot access the Rules Wizard. Nor can I access a Scenes Wizard.... though I have never created any scenes... so not sure what to expect there. I had just two simple rules... one to turn on a lamp (at a specified time of day) via a Peanut... the other to turn off the lamp at a specified later time of day. Funny thing is that last night the lamp did automatically turn on, then off... as it was supposed to.
So the Rules seem to still be in the Almond+... but I cannot see/ edit them!!(??) I tried rolling back to R083, but the situation was the same... still couldn't see the Rules. I'm back to R085 now. Strange....

I have the same issue with the update from R083 to R085, with my Almond+ in Range Extender mode.
Even internal network communication across the bridge does not work very well (e.g. my Blu-ray can no longer see the DLNA server on the other side of the bridge, whether on 5GHz or 2.4GHz band) and ICMP ECHO (ping) appears to kill the 5GHz connection pretty quickly.
From the Almond+ 5GHz extended range connection, doing the same on my 5GHz "main" wireless connection has no such issue, nor did the Almond+ have this issue before updating to R085:
$ ping google.com
PING google.com (216.58.216.174): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 216.58.216.174: icmp_seq=0 ttl=50 time=47.452 ms

Request timeout for icmp_seq 3
Request timeout for icmp_seq 4
Request timeout for icmp_seq 5
Request timeout for icmp_seq 6

--- google.com ping statistics ---
8 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 62.5% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 37.216/43.166/47.452/4.341 ms
Also, my forum account appears to have been erased and I had to create a new one.
Reverting to R083 fixes both the ICMP echo "issue" and my Blu-ray being able to see the DLNA server on the other side of the bridge.

Rules is still Local Only. If you're connected to the Cloud, then click on the cloud icon on top right corner and switch to local access. You should be able to see the rules now.
-
@ sandalle,
I hope after the upgrade to R085, you have rebooted the Almond+ manually if not please do it and check, also if you have not performed a factory reset try that too, let us know the status.
-
@d.kiran,
Thank you for assisting... using my Android phone App I can use the "cloud" icon to switch to Local and then see my Rules on the phone App. BUT I see no "cloud" icon in the top right corner of the "root" PC Local Browser Control UI... (??) so I still cannot switch to a mode to see the Rules on the "root" PC Local Browser Control UI. What am I missing?
-
@ BikerBob,
Web UI is for local purpose, hence, there is no option for you to switch that to Cloud as you can access it irrespective of having internet connection or not to Almond+.
-
@Ashok,
So is there a way to use a PC user interface to see/ edit Rules? Didn't we used to do it via the "root" Local Browser Control UI? I'm confused.... how are we suppose to see/ edit Rules?
Thanks....
-
@ BikerBob,
We can, tap on Status-->Web Admin to find the URL and user credentials to login to the Web UI and under Rules, you can view and edit them.
-

Hi Ashok,
I did do a reboot, and even a power cycle (30s with no power cable). :) I have my AP working now so I'm not going to be fiddling with it, I'll try again when the next release comes out. "Re-install the OS" is not a valid fix for a product that's in-use, that's more for a product still in beta testing.
-
@Ashok,
Nope. We're still back to my originally posted problem... what you lead me to in your last post takes me on the PC to the "root" (10.10.10.254) Local Browser Interface (as it's called in the A+ Quick Start Guide) which I log into... then can see the "Rules" tab on the top... but selecting it does NOTHING in my case(??) Pressing the "Rules" tab does NOT result in the Rules showing up below. Any other ideas?
-
empty browser cache
-
@SecureComp,
Geesh... Clearing the Browser Cache worked! Now I can see my Rules.... Thanks!
-
Exact same issue. In range extender mode. Where can I download prior releases of firmware?
Don't you test your software

@ cicorias,
We have got close to 20 units which are setup in Range Extender mode and did not face any issues like this, personally I got 8 units setup for the team in Range Extender mode and no issues. Please try turning of the Almond+ along with main router wait for 30 seconds turn on only the main router once it is completely back on then turn on the Almond+, let us know the performance.
For your convenience, here's the download link for old firmware:
https://firmware.securifi.com/AP2/AP2-R083-L009-W016-ZW016-ZB005

I downgraded to R083 and it works again in Range Extender mode with no issues. Configuration settings are no longer lost after rebooting the unit. I will stay on R083 for the time being. Thanks.

@ mr23,
We are presently working on the new Rules commands for WebSocket server and soon it would be updated on our Wiki.
-
@ mr23,
Rules Commands are updated on Wiki.
-
On chrome, Icons are every which way and not all pages load. I will delete the browsing data and see if that helps, but this shouldn't be an issue. Why can't you just rename your assets if you change them?
In every browser, there are more major issues. For instance all IP addresses show up as "Nan" and when I click "Click to remove devices" a dialog saying "Currently no NEST devices to remove" pops up. This is stuff that should be caught during basic QC.
-
@ BFH,
Click to Remove devices is only for the Nest and if you would like to remove particular device then click on particular device section and hit the recycle bin icon or you could try Recycle network devices on the bottom which would refresh all the client devices.
-
@ mr23,
Rules Commands are updated on Wiki.
Thank you

This thread seems to have more responses than the software dev section, so I'll mention that the SDK (2.4) doesn't seem to work for myself and (at least) one other person with R085.

Same issue as @drei.
tried factory reset and multiples reboot.
-
@ sotoda,
Did we try rebooting the main router first and then Almond+, are we making any changes once the setup is completed to the Almond+?
-
R085 has had a significant - and negative - impact to my router.
Two main issues:
1) Ever since I've had my almond+ (going on a year and a half) I've never had it freeze up on me.. now, since the update, it is an almost daily event (freeze up as in stop working, LCD going dark, and having to physically unplug and replug to reboot). I had a reliable router, now completely the opposite.
2) At random times (but a couple of times now at 11:00 pm ET), "something" goes on that makes my mobile devices go crazy with repeated messages of devices logging on the to the router. While I have approx. 50 devices (of all kinds) connecting to wifi - no HA devices (other than Hue which I do not use/no scenes), the message repeats more than a 100 times - to the point that I have not had to turn off notifications on my devices.
Have reboot (intentionally and by necessity) a number of times; now at a point where I don't know what to do. Reading through this forum, not seeing others with the same problem. Ideas??
-
Follow up to prior post... another issue which I forgot to mention and just happened again... another negative behavior that has just started after the R085 update....
3) The web UI, which historically had been bug free, now randomly is inoperable, with the screen flickering between being greyed out with a yellow box at top stating "Lost connection, reconnecting..." to "not greyed out and box stating "Connecting" - flickering between the two maybe 2 or 3 times a second. Using a completely different browser does not help. To get it back to normal, need to reboot the router.
Please help!
-
@ elandais,
1) Try to set the screen time to 99999 and let us know, if everything is working fine.
2) Hit send logs with the description "lot of notifications"
3) It is a browser cache issue, try to clear the complete browser history completely and then check the performance.
-
Thanks for quick reply!
1) Trying to turn screen time to "99999" - I might be missing something, but does not let me do it, tells me to enter a valid time.
2) Done.
3) Attempted to do so - to no avail; same issue upon restarting browser (have not reboot router yet, that is likely to fix it)
Thanks.
Update: Web UI problem is more severe than I expected... after clearing browser history to no avail, reboot the router, same problem. Tried logging in through a different browser on PC, and from safari on browser... same issue. Although the app still works well, cannot use the web ui.

Glad to hear the A+ has been reliable for you.
I'm certain it will be again.
The message thing I've experienced with other releases, I nicknamed it "batched messages" because a bunch came down at once. In my case it was related to cache in the App on the smartphone and/or switching between Local and Cloud connection.
I would clear browser cache and refresh the window if you are using a Bookmark/Favorite to access the Web UI.
I would also clear the App cache on any Android devices.

@Ashok - Are you planning on making Humidity for thermostat accessible via the App ? It's getting warmer now (I believe I asked for this last summer :-) ) and humidity is increasing.
This is very bad for wooden floors, so if I could have a rule that triggers based on humidity, that would be awesome.
-
Time was set to UTC after applying R085. Figured it out once the motion sensor kicked on the lights at much earlier than they were supposed to.
-
I Noticed that my Static DHCP Leases is only showing 19 on the Almond web interface and the OpenWRT interface, but inside /etc/config/dhcp I see all 20... Also any word on why you are still limiting the static to only 20 hosts? I know Dnsmasq can support way more and I don't think that is an OpenWRT limit...
Thanks!
-
If it's really necessary (and I know it is, I'm in the same boat as you and have been complaining for a while about the limited number of DHCP reservations available) you can set some of your clients to static addresses on their end, saving your reserved DHCP static lease slots for those precious little snowflake devices that don't allow client side static IP configuration.
Easily done if you are technically inclined. I am not, so it was miserable, long, and not at all fun. Oh...they also don't show up in the WebUI. That list only shows devices whose IPs are handled through DHCP. If you want know if they are connected, the mobile app will eventually list them when it gets around to it. So if you were hoping for a global list of all connected devices independent of HOW they get their IPs somewhere in the WebUI, that would be a firm no.
But I'm not bitter.

Ha yea, I hear ya, I was able to edit /etc/config/dhcp and add more than 20, but the UI only shows 19, I guess I was more complaining that the Web UI won't let you and that is it missing one. If you need to add more just use putty to ssh and edit /etc/config/dhcp. If you scroll down you will see entries separated by host#:
config 'host' 'host22'
option 'name' 'ipad-air'
option 'mac' 'aa:bb:cc:11:22:33'
option 'ip' '10.10.10.123'
You can just keep adding to this file.
Once you are done run:
/etc/init.d/network restart
and it will reset the interfaces and load your new dnsmasq settings. Be Advised though, you can break stuff, and there is a chance the UI gets mad (although it hasn't yet for me) that there are more than 20.

I'm experiencing the same problem here, but it's only been happening since I loaded R085. I actually bought a digital outlet timer and set it to power down @ 3am and power on @ 3:01am. I'm hoping that will temporarily (maybe permanently) resolve the daily freeze and minimize my family's frustration.
-
@Ugoff "Be Advised though, you can break stuff"
That's what I figured, so I went the longer way with a marginally lesser chance of breaking stuff, and more of an understanding of the process so I could still back my way out if it got hairy.
@derrikn
I would be very wary of just cutting the external power source to this thing over and over again.

I have to agree with that. I have been having problems of almost daily shutdowns.
@Securifi, this is pretty frustrating. Have you been able to replicate?
-
@ d.kiran,
I have to agree with that. I have been having problems of almost daily shutdowns.
@Securifi, this is pretty frustrating. Have you been able to replicate?
We have not faced these kind of issues while testing at our end or by the Beta testers about Almond+ being shutdown randomly, in order to ensure that this is firmware related could we try downgrading the firmware to the old version R83 and also double check the rule for rebooting the Almond+.
-
I used to schedule a reboot every other day to correct any router irregularities on R83.
R85 doesn't respond the same way. Reboots do not work to correct the freeze. I need to power cycle the router to get it working again.
-
I lost the connection with Hue bridge after updating to 85. It was working fine before that with the previous version 83.
-
@ Pycomo,
Try to disconnect and reconnect the Ethernet cable and reboot the Hue Bridge that should solve the issue.
-
Unfortunately it did not work. I did what you told me to do - it did not solve the problem. I performed factory reset and started with the bridge from zero going trough the whole process of adding lights and rebuilding the connections to Nest and Echo, but Almond+ still can not see the Hue bridge. How can I go back to previous software version?
-
@ Pycomo,
It may not be an issue with the firmware, because I was able to add the Phillips Hue bridge with out any concerns. Try to connect the Ethernet cable to a different LAN port and then reset only the bride and then try adding it. If it is still failing then send the log files with the description "Hue Bridge not adding" and will take care of it.

Thanks for the support - still battling it out - done all the cache clearing, clock resetting, etc, and still having problems - A+ freezing on a regular basis now (and requiring physical unplugging/replugging to get back to working).
-
@ elandais,
Does screentimeout to 999999 did not help?
-
No, other than keeping the screen on - no difference.
-
In continuing to troubleshoot my issues, have run across these scheduled tasks in OpenWRT... I understand the second line is a nightly reboot, can anyone educate me on what the first and third lines are for?

I have a problem with my Garage door sensor showing the wrong icon. On the LCD, the tilt sensor shows incorrect status.
The actual status (you can see the icon in the top)
-
@ elandais,
It could be one of the Rule or related to any one of the existing rules, please send us the log files to update you with the proper information.
-
@ d.kiran,
Please send the log files, which would be more helpful for us to diagnose it.
-
"Garage Door incorrect status on LCD" logs sent
-
@ d.kiran,
We have verified the log files and it seems like the functionality is fine and if you are referring to the icon then it is by default for all the door sensors and it won't change according to the status.
-
Thanks Ashok. I was referring to the icon. I don't use the LCD at all so I was surprised when I saw that.
I had another problem yesterday. I noticed my door locks were not working properly and would not respond to commands despite multiple attempts so I removed and added them. I noticed that my Kwikset 910 No Longer shows battery status. My Kwikset 912 however, showed the updated battery status of 90%. It was at 50% before I readded.
Can you look at the logs and see
1. If there is a way we can get more accurate battery level from Kwikset locks
2. Why the device named Front Door does not have Battery status.
Also my logs have my PINs in plain text. I assume there is no way to obscure those?
-
I sent the logs as Door Lock and battery status
-
@ d.kiran,
As per the log files, it seems like the lock itself was sending the battery status like that and, whenever, we want to know the actual status of the batter need to tap on the batter icon.
There is a way to obscure the pin, but the user has to remember all the pin codes.
-
Thanks again Ashok. Clicking on the battery icon did show the battery status. I will monitor that to see if it changes.
Since my Almond is hidden away in my closet, is there a way, you can force battery check from the app or the webui or even better automatically like once a week? That would be extremely useful.
-
I just upgraded to R085 and like others have indicated....
WebUI
Devices page is blank. None of my devices show anymore and its non-functional.
Scenes page has icon that says "Something went wrong" and "Please try agaIn". None of my scenes show up and the page is non-functional.
Android App
Devices and Scenes appear and are functional except thermostat (described in other thread). Linear garage door opener works but I still get a message "Sorry, could not save GarageDoor"
Android app will not make a local connection. When I switch local, I get exclamation point in upper right corner and retrying local connection doesn't work. Nothing functional. Can only use cloud connection.
Please advise... is the fix still for people just to roll back to R083 as indicated in this thread?

After some period of time, for reasons unknown, the android app made a local connection. It looks like when I have a local connection that I do not get the "could not save xxx" or "could not update xxx" messages in the android app. So that appears to be a cloud connected issue.
The webui still has no devices and scenes gone.
-
@ spooky123,
Ensure that the device is not rebooted and send us the log files. Meanwhile, try to change the Web UI password to some think simple and then check the status.
-
OK I am going to give up on the Almond+ and just get a SmartThings hub.
* rules still need to be set up on the local interface. what's the point of even having an app?
* app and web service provide inconsistent statuses (my z-wave garage door opener shows as unsupported on the web service but is fine in the app)
* NO WAY TO EMAIL ME AS PART OF A RULE. WTF? When you have a z-wave device that can automatically close my open window, then not having email as an option is OK. Otherwise, how the bunny am I supposed to get a notification that my water sensor has tripped or that my window is open?
* takes freaking forever to add device support. I can't buy and install a z-wave device with any confidence that it will be supported now, or at any point in the future, nor can I be assured that a device that works now will not automagically be not supported when the firmware updates (see garage door opener point).
I've been remarkably patient with the company - I'm an original kickstarter backer of the Almond+ and I've been perfectly OK with using the device as a router. But as a smart hub, it's just crap and it's not getting any better.
-
@Ashok - changing the password to a simple one worked and I was able to change back to a complex one and devices and scenes are present. Thanks.
-
Recently updated to R085. The iPhone app now takes somewhere between forever (30+ sec) and never to connect to the router. Scenes no longer accurately show status, don't always show up in the UI, and when activated, not all the devices seem to respond. Restarting the router helps, but there are consistent problems with certain devices taking much longer to respond than in prior firmware versions.
Basically, this rev feels more "broken" than any releases in the past year. Coming home and stumbling around in the dark while waiting for the router to come online is becoming fairly frustring.

I prefer to have Rules accessible in the Local mode only. Rarely do I foresee a circumstance where I would be changing a rule remotely and if I did, I'd use the VPN.
Notifications can be set to Always, Never or When I'm Away. That's how the bunny you get notified. Via PUSH notification and not having to rely on email that may or may not be sent to your phone in a timely fashion. I prefer to check my email 1x/30 mins instead of always getting Pushed. The notification method provides instant notification.

I have seen other people complain here before that I think were unjust, but I think all of the above are valid points.
I have been waiting for a rule based RH for over a year now. Currently I can only see the RH in the WebUI, not in the App.
@ All,
Our team just started working on adding the support for showing RH feature, and coming to the two thermostats issue on Web UI we were able to replicate and would be taken care through our next release.
Also, is there any way to "say" below or above when making rules that include temperature? I have a headache when going from night to day settings and vise versa...
This is something that has been asked for over a year. To be honest, these are all fairly basic things that are being requested and taking a year to implement this is insane.
Isnt't it crazy that we don't have sunrise and sunset rules yet?
But, I have to give props to Securifi for continuing to support Almond while we have seen stuff fall by the wayside (Wink/Quirky, Revolv, Staples, TCP Connected and more to follow).
SmartThings did a great job (way before the acquisition, so it's not just the resource issue). Securifi had amazing kickstarter success and Securifi has potential to be so much more, but I doubt they will ever go there.
Even now with the Echo support, they are doing things the wrong way.
The question is not whether I can make do with Almond+ (Yes).
Did it deliver what was promised? (Not really)

I've cleared my android cache for the app, cleared my windows cache for the WebUI. Uninstalled the app & reinstalled. Forget getting accurate states for HA devices, the current states of regular connected devices (computers, tablets, NAS) have no basis in reality. I have a chromecast that Almond+ tells me has not been connected since May. The other chromecast reads just fine. No idea why. I just moved the bunny thing yesterday and have used it numerous times between now and the period my Almond tells me it "went dark". The app used to control my connected smart lock...but no more apparently.
The HA functionality of this router is becoming fairly irrelevant to me. I am probably going to begin cutting as many HA devices out of the Almond loop as possible.
-When I think about it, the bulk of my stuff are Hues, handled by its hub - so Almond control is completely redundant.
-The Nest protect support really doesn't do much - another check next to the redundant box.
-Having phones and tablets double as presence sensors, while an innovative idea, does nothing for me if it doesn't work (clearly connected and switched on devices are all listed as inactive - a result of assigning them static IPS at the client side, perhaps? Others plugged into ethernet switches, but no less connected and no less in an ON state).
-adds nothing to control my Wemos.
-I can obviously begin writing off the zwave functionality (only had two devices anyway. If I can't control the lock anymore, and don't really trust the read on my door sensor, what is the point?).
You guys better start beefing up your basic router functionality and fixing your blind spots there, because that's all I've got left to recommend about the product line.

I recently upgraded my firmware to R085 and now the device either locks up or appears powered down with no communications in or out. Completely unresponsive. I must power cycle the unit, it stays up for maybe 15-30 minutes then shuts down again. What can I do???
-
Do you have any external drives plugged into the USB ports? The only time I had something that dramatic happen to my A+, it was an overheating issue. The unit locked up and eventually the screen went dark. The whole unit was hot to the touch. I unplugged the drives, powered down & restarted the system.
If you have hard drives plugged in, try rebooting without them attached. Pretty much makes the whole NAS feature is a write-off as far as I'm concerned.

Did you try using one of the Y-USB connectors and powering the drive from another supply? Or possibly the drive has a DC jack on it...

Drive had it's own power supply. (I would never expect any router to have enough juice to power a HD).

Definitely need to be able to use ">" and "<" in rules triggered by temperature. It is really useless otherwise. Further, comparing values for two different sensors would be invaluable, such as being able to compare temperatures in different parts of the house and run the central fan if they are more than n degrees apart.

@ clay.leihy,
I agree and hopefully, our next release would have the support for it.

I had the same thoughts (some written somewhere in the forum). Ashok I was wondering if we could also get the ability to define a new virtual value.
Besides use in a rule, I might want to display that virtual value somewhere (Almond+ or webGui).
And be able to define more than one virtual value for a device.
Such as:
Dev17(Aeon_Multisensor6).V1_RelHumidityBathToIndoor = Dev17(Aeon_Multisensor6).Humidty - Dev16(Aeon_Multisensor6).Humidity
Dev17(Aeon_Multisensor6).V2_RelHumidityOutdoorToIndoor = Dev18(Aeon_Multisensor6).Humidty - Dev16(Aeon_Multisensor6).Humidity
Dev17 is in a bathroom, Dev16 is in a central area of the house. Dev18 is outside.
And be able to select virtual values V1_RelHumidty & V2_RH in a rule for Dev17.
When Dev17.V1_RH > 10% and Dev17.V2_RH < 20% Then Dev14(Fan).(On, Medium)
When Dev17.V1_RH > 10% and Dev17.V2_RH > 20.2% Then Dev14(Fan).(On, Low) // ignoring 20.0%..20.2% for a bit of hysteresis.
When Dev17.V1_RH < 5% Then Dev14(Fan).Off
When Dev17.V3_TeenagerTookALongHotShower Then Dev14(Fan).(On,High).Delay(5,"minutes").(On,Low).Delay(15,"minutes").Off // ;-)
These virtual values could live somewhere else than on a specific device. Logically it makes sense to me to have the value in a context (device) such as above.
Could take it a bit further..., and create a logical device, Dev19(BathVentilation), that holds the virtual values and conditions and matching (other) device states.
