Title: What's good dimmer light switch to use now in 2020?
Post by: bebopblues on March 22, 2020, 01:14:20 am
Is it still the Linear, GE/Jasco, Leviaton models that are best to use?
Is 3-way switch easy to set up?

I am having extremely good luck with an Inovelli Red Series dimmer. My daughter loves that I can change the dimming bar color to one of her favorites. It is also very responsive and being Z-Wave Plus it reports to the controller if someone has pressed it locally (the original Z-Wave dimmer it replaced did not). I do not have mine in a 3-way config but they have pretty clear instructions that said it could be used for it.

How is it that they made it work without a neutral wire, is it battery powered when off?

EDIT: nevermind, neutral wire is required if load is under 25W (https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/91Dg7FKbyUL._AC_SL1500_.jpg)

Yeah, like all the switches that can go without a neutral they are sapping a bit of power from the other lines constantly but that needs enough draw coming through. I have never used any switch without a neutral though so I cannot say how well that works.
