The expected MSRP will be in the $250 range when the Securifi Almond+ is ready for a proper retail launch.

Yes, that's correct. The $99 pricing was a Kickstarter only offer.
-
Kickstarter prices are usually way below final price, This is one of the benefits of the risk one takes when pledging.
Additionally when the Kickstarter launched it was completely different hardware.
If you backed the campaign, you will see in update #12 in May last year they announced major improvements in the hardware.
There is a lot of information in there and since the update was for backers only, I won't put the information in here, but there is one image that summarize it a bit.

And Securifi has already said that they will carry the additional cost of this for their backers.

We actually made further changes to 512MB RAM/flash, larger 3.5in LCD and a few other minor things since then. This all adds cost and the original hardware was a lot cheaper to manufacture which would've resulted a much lower retail price.

I'm thankful we didn't do that. It is great that we are doing this for our Backers/Devs. but if I was a customer I would want the best product possible, and if this means it costs more, then so be it. Our product is unique, and extra functionality costs extra money, the retail price of the final product has to reflect the higher cost of production.
Companies need to be price competitive, but if the product is sold too cheaply, there is no money left for development or support, which ultimately leads to a marginal product with marginal support, which ultimately affects sales in a negative way.
At an MSRP of $250.00 we are still competitive. There will always be "cheaper" offerings from our competitors, but their products do not offer the same functionality as ours. Besides we continue to sell our Almond product (vs Almond+) for people wanting entry level routers with the convenience of a Touch screen for configuration.

Any idea what the price will be for those who registered for the pre-order? I just missed out on the kickstarter... and then basically forgot...
-
We'll give everyone that have signed up for the pre-order a special price, but we haven't set it yet. It'll be a fair chunk off the MSRP for sure.
-
Cool!
Thanks for the news. :)
-
Will Kickstarter backers also have a chance to order additional Almond+s at a price discounted from MSRP?
-
That's the plan, yes. As to if we can do this in the same shipment as what we'll send out as part of Kickstarter or not is a different matter.
-
what's the latest release information? It's the end of the 2nd quarter!!! ;)
-
We're starting the shipments to our Kickstarter backers this week. As for everything else, we'll keep you posted, but everyone that's signed up for pre-orders will be the first that'll be able to purchase an Almond+.
