I was unable to get an activation email when using a .edu account, and had to use a .com account

Check with your institutions spam filter. They are usually more ardent than normal spam filters.

That might be it, although as far as I know I haven't lost anything else.

Anyhow, bit late to change the registration now; I'll stick with the .com account.
