Title: Problem with rules for Nest thermostat
Post by: AnthonyB on March 14, 2017, 09:26:56 am
I linked my Almond 3 to my Nest thermostat and set up a rule to send it to Eco mode. Instead of using the motion detector on the Nest I made a rule in the Almond app to change the Nest to Eco mode when both mine and my wife's phones showed inactive to the Almond. The rule triggers correctly but shuts the Nest off instead of changing to Eco mode. Anybody else see similar problems or have suggestions?

Are you reading the Off from the Nest or from the Almond App?
My Nest status in the Almond app shows Off when it is not running the furnace, even though it is in Eco mode at the moment (visible in the Nest app).

It shows as off in the Almond app frequently even when the Nest is actively on. But I'm referring to it actually shutting the Nest to off. It then shows as off in the Nest app and on the thermostat itself.

Sorry, had to make sure. That definitely sounds like a bug. If we were not have wonderful weather conditions right now I would give it a try myself... But I have already been warned not to do anything that might "mess" with the thermostat. :)

@ AnthonyB,

It does sound like a bug, however, could you please send us the log files with the description "Logs for Ashok Nest"

I added new rules to turn it to Heat or Cool mode based on the outside temperature when one of our phones reconnects to the Almond and that seems to work properly. Or at least the one triggered by my phone does. But the Eco mode rule is still switching it to Off. I am about to send the logs now.

A recent update seems to have fixed the issue. It now shifts to Eco Mode instead of turning off.
