Title: List of supported sensors
Post by: LGNilsson on February 07, 2014, 04:14:12 am
The list has been moved to the Wiki.

You can find the list here http://wiki.securifi.com/index.php?title=List_of_compatible_sensors_-_Almond%2B_2014

Nice, hopefully the list will grow huge. ;-)

A small suggestion is to make it a list or table style instead.
This would make it easier to find what you are looking for.

And as the list grows bigger, adding some kind of filter or sorting options would probably be a good idea.

It'll be shifted over the Wiki once it goes live, so no worries about finding stuff as the list grows.

Any idea on when you will announce pricing and availability on your in-house sensors?  I am really interested in acquiring a few Door/Window Sensors and some kind of Motion / Presence Detectors once I have my Almond+.  From the pictures I've seen of your Zigbee Door/Window Sensor, it looks really nice, hopefully it is cost-competitive or maybe even a value?  I have been enticed by the recently announced products from monoprice http://www.monoprice.com/Category?c_id=109&cp_id=10918&cs_id=1091804 (http://www.monoprice.com/Category?c_id=109&cp_id=10918&cs_id=1091804).

The sensors/devices we provided for the $499 level Kickstarter backers aren't actually made by us, but we're considering offering them for sale until we launch our own sensors/devices.
They would be competitively priced for sure, but not a bargain, since we're not controlling the full cost.
If this is something that would be of interest, then please let us know and we'll see what we can do.

Looking at the Monoprice link you provided, those look like Vision sensors, so they should all be supported already, including the lock, as we have a sample of that.

I was specifically referring to the products that look like they could be from http://www.wulian.cc/english/products/default.htm (http://www.wulian.cc/english/products/default.htm) but are labelled as being Securifi on your tested sensor list.  If they [SZ-DWS02, SZ-PIR02] are around the monoprice [Vision] price in USD, I would rather buy them from you!

I fully understood what you meant. Our devices are not made by Wulian, they're made by a Taiwanese company.
I've had a chat with our CEO and we're going to do some further investigation into how we can offer the sensors for sale. It's more of a logistics issue than anything else and something that shouldn't be too hard to solve, but it'll take a little bit of time.
The difference between the sensors we provided to the $499 level Kickstarter backers is that they're using ZigBee, whereas what Monoprice is offering are Z-Wave sensors.
If this all works out, we'll make an official announcement and we're going to do our best to offer as competitive pricing as we can.

Is there any plan to support / sell a 220v dimmer? Something like the Vision
ZL7101 but in 220v would be best... Or any of the Wulian products, like their WL-DS-A01 dimmer? There are no Wulian products on the compat list, is this because none were tested or do they not work?
Title: Re: List of supported sensors
Post by: LGNilsson on May 08, 2014, 07:17:58 am
It's simply because we haven't tested them.
Everspring has 220V devices that work and we're adding support for more.

will the  secure SRT322 (http://www.securetogether.eu/index.php/standard-products/thermostats/item/42-hrt4-zw-with-asr-zw-receiver) (thermostat) be supported in the near future?
It is mainly the temperature setting im interested in, the relay is controlled stand alone by default, which i would like to keep that way if possible.

Any idea where we can buy one? As long as we can get hold of one, we can add support for it, but is it a popular product in Europe?
As far as I'm aware, not a lot of people have thermostats in Europe, but maybe that's changing, it's been a few years since I left.
Title: Re: List of supported sensors

In (northern) Europe it is very common to have a thermostat for central heating, not to be confused with HVAC-like systems in the US.
Actually, "smart" thermostats are quite the rage these days, as many energy suppliers push them to their customers.

This is one of the most easily available and affordable zwave thermostats here in europe to my knowledge, it claims to be suported by vera, fibaro, zipato but the 2 units can act without a controller as well.

I found this link on amazon:

Title: Re: List of supported sensors
Post by: Mike on May 09, 2014, 10:08:35 am
Do you need to check every device to make it work? Or is it just for verification that it works?

I know the thermostaat can be tricky, but how about wall switches, dimmers, scene controllers. I have already purchased soms of those and will check the models if required...

We're trying to add "automatic"support for as broad range of devices as possible and although some untested devices work, right now we don't have a manual option fit adding device parameters, so we need to add support for more complex devices. We're working on adding manual device parameter support and hope to have that in place before we ship.

Apparently they didn't so big thanks for passing it on. It should make our lives a lot easier and it should be quicker for us to add support for various devices this way.
That said, anything with "Manufacturer Proprietary" and "Manufacturer Specific" command classes are still messy to add support for and will require some work from our side, as these command classes could contain anything.

Would it be possible to add a list of not supported devices?  For example, I'm curious if any of the Iris devices are supported, but I suspect they aren't.
Title: Re: List of supported sensors
Post by: LGNilsson on May 18, 2014, 10:13:50 pm
Well, technically speaking, if it's not on the list, it's not supported. Admittedly many things may still work, but they haven't been tested.

The Iris Z-Wave devices should work, as they're standard Z-Wave devices, however, their ZigBee devices won't as they're using a proprietary layer of software on their sensors that prevents them to connect to anything except the Iris hub.

Do the motion sensors that we can order with the Almond+ have a light sensor also?  For example, if I want to use it to turn on the lights if there is motion in a dark room.
Title: Re: List of supported sensors
Post by: LGNilsson on May 27, 2014, 11:55:45 am
Sadly no, in fact, this isn't a very common feature in PIR sensors. That said, what you can do can still be done and there's no need for a light sensor to do that, as it would be part of the automation logic so you could set this up during certain hours of the day.

If you are taking requests for sensors to test/support, I'd like to see support for these very small ZigBee sensors by NYCE. They will soon be sold in Lowe's hardware stores throughout the US (supported by Iris platform) & will be supported/sold by SmartThings.

http://nycecontrol.com/support/product-support/
http://nycecontrol.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/NCZ-3014-Garage-Door-Tilt-Sensor-Feature-Sheet-2014-03-06.pdf

Also, I second others that posted about support for Monoprice z-wave devices since they allow external contact sensors.
http://www.monoprice.com/Category?c_id=109&cp_id=10918&cs_id=1091804

Utilitech makes a siren and water sensors (for those that don't get one from Securifi while in stock). Would be nice to have these tested for support:

It's great that your getting a lot of devices to add support.  Can you add to the Wiki a list of these devices you are attempting to make supported?

Maybe with a status note such as "ordered from manufacturer", "in house, waiting to be tested",  "testing in progress" etc.

I'm afraid I don't know of everything they're working on, but I'll try to put something up once I'm back in the office, as I'm on holiday right now.

I've got a couple of things I'll be bringing back with me that was requested here, the Danfoss radiator thermostat and one other European thermostat which I can't remember the name of right now.

We've added support for a ton of new sensor/device types for the local web UI in the latest internal firmware build, so more stuff is coming shortly.

I'm not quite sure what happened, but support will be included in the firmware that adds range extender and access point support which is expected to be released in about two weeks.

Okay, I purchased this sensor from Amazon...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JXY82X6

Seems to pair correctly and gives me a "Motion Detected" indication, in the Almond+ web UI, when I move around it.

I don't see anything to indicate what to DO when it sees motion. Is that capability (Home Automation) still in a future release?

Interesting, not one we've tested, but good to hear that it works.

Yes, the automation is still being developed, but we should have in-app notifications in the Android app in a week or two, a bit longer for the iOS app as we're a bit behind with that one.

What needs to be done to get things added to the wiki?
There are a bunch of user tested devices around the forum that are not on the list of compatible devices, such as Cree Connected bulb.
Also, I would suggest a list of never compatible sensors (like some everspring), as well as currently unsupported, but might be in the future.

Sounds like the YRD220?  But that is Zwave -- I don't know that Yale does a Zigbee lock.  I have the YRD240, which is basically the same but does not have a key at all.  It works great with the Almond+.  It locks/unlocks, reports status (with a few seconds delay), and I can set the user codes as well.  I can't DELETE a code, but can edit them (which is almost as good, but not quite...)  I just wish it would report when it is unlocked via the keypad and which code unlocked it -- as far as I know it only reports that it was unlocked (possibly even from inside, no way to tell).  I don't know if that is an issue with all locks, just this lock, or the Almond+.

Aha, yes, the YRD220.  But it is Zigbee.  I have the Almond2015, aware we might get zwave firmware but not yet, so was very sure to get.  Believe they make identical model with zwave.  Thanks tho!  Gives me courage to unbox, pair and move forth. Not worried about multiple codes yet :)

The ZigBee version should work, but we don't support codes via our UI, you'd have to add them via the key pad on the lock.
I know it works with the Almond+, but I haven't tested it with the 2015 as yet. I haven't added it to the list of supported devices yet, but I'll check that everything is working properly today and update the list accordingly.

As a general piece of information, Yale does ZigBee and Z-Wave modules for their locks and it's even possible to change them, if you can get hold of the modules.

Ok, just tested the Yale YRD-220-HA-619 which seems to be the ZigBee version (well, technically it's the YRD220 with the ZigBee module) and it works flawlessly with the Almond+ and Almond 2015, via the LCD, Android app, local web UI and rules.
Oh and I added it to the Wiki.

I can add it to the list for user tested sensors.

Can you control the Blue LED? Meaning set the LED to be on or off for either switch position?  It is a feature of that switch but I'm not sure of how the R76 will read the settings.

How is the switch reporting in the IOS App?  The Android App? The Web Interface and the LCD?
Any issues with correct reporting of On/Off or Dimmer %?

Actually let me correct my statement.  The GE 12722 pairs just fine with the Almond+ as a binary switch but here are some issues that I've found:
1.  The LCD screen  buttons for on/off can control the switch but the status of On or OFF is not accurate and can take time to update
2.  Android app- for the switch, the app shows the same state as the LCD screen state for the switch.  But because there isn't a specific On / OFF button on the app, when the power button is pressed the button doesn't seem to do anything.  For instance- right now the LCD screen shows the switch as ON when it is actually OFF, so the android app shows ON and when I press the button on the app, it just says "updating sensor data.  Please wait" and they reports "could not change, please wait".
3.  Web interface shows the same state as LCD and lack of control as the android app.  When the switch button is clicked on the web interface, a small notice of  "Please refresh and retry".

FYI- Its not a dimmer switch.  just on off.

The blue LED comes on only when switch is in the OFF state.

I do have rules setup for the switch (turn turn off during the day), but they were inactive when doing this testing.  Have not tested the rules yet to see if they work.

Thanks for the followup.

Sounds like we should re-visit with the next firmware release. Some of the issues described are similar to the mulitlevel on/of devices.  Pretty sure it will be worked out and the next firmware drop should be pretty soon.

I'm about to buy a couple binary switches (including the one mentioned here) and some in line appliance switches and will be updating the sensor list accordingly.

Andy
That is not correct.

I have added several sensors to the list myself.

Sensors can be added to the list if;
1) they have been tested and approved by Securifi
2) they have been tested by a community member

IF someone wants a sensor added to the list, OR a sensor currently on the list modified to show a change in status, please submit the following info.

Almond model used for testing
Make, Model of Sensor
Testing method
Member Name

Preferably, in lieu of Securifi testing the sensor, multiple members would test and confirm sensor operation.

I am mostly concerned with Almond+ sensors only because that's what I have and often I will purchase the sensor in question to personally verify operation. But if multiple community members post results with the Almond or Almond2015, I will update the sensor list.

I have now used a Nanoleaf Ivy bulb for a couple of days, and it seems to be working.

Tested :

Almond+ with Android app
Nanoleaf Ivy bulb (Zigbee)
Paired, On, off and dimming in Android app and in Almond+ LCD ui.

I only notice one small issue. The Ivy bulb can be dimmed manually with the wall switch. So if I dim to "nightlight" mode (on-off-on) the app and lcd ui should show
some percent value for light. Now they show that the bulb is on but at 0% light output.  Could the Almond+ software be changed to always get current percentage of
light output from the bulb when the sensor is opened in the app and lcd ui?

Not sure if this is the right place to report a working device that is not listed.

I was able to successfully add and use Fibaro DOUBLE RELAY SWITCH
FGS-221 (Z-wave). Adds as a multi switch to both web and ios UI and everything seems to work fine.

The other one that I added seems to have limited functionality - Greenwave PowerNode Z-Wave Adapter Plug with Power Meter - was able to add it only when the group selector was set to black (whatever that means), no power meter (always says 0) and no status feedback (if i turn it on from the hardware button, does not update in Almond web UI or the ios app).

There is not a clear-cut list at the moment. It also varies by which Almond you have (the + has ZigBee and Z-Wave, 2015 and 3 both have built-in ZigBee and the 3 can also use a Z-Wave dongle). There are so many devices at this point it would be a pretty big job.

All that being said... If you know particular ones you were looking at or types of devices checking here in the forum or asking is probably the best way. At least until such list is compiled.
