Title: Full speed repeater
Post by: anwar.shiekh on May 08, 2019, 02:11:56 pm
Normally a repeater reduces network speed as it can't talk at the same time it listens, but is it possible to build a full speed repeater using two Almonds? The idea is that one is a bridge and one an AP, BUT with each running on a different (non-overlapping) channel; now the combined unit can talk and listen at the same time.

It's an interesting theory...splitting the TX/RX duties across two units cabled together.

I am worried about vicinity; although they will be on independent channels the fact that they are very close may mean spill over; then again the 5 MHz separation is large (~12%)

* Channel 36 is 5180 MHz
...
* Channel 165 is 5825 MHz

while for 2.4 MHz

* Channel 1 2412 MHz

* Channel 11 2462 MHz

yields ~2% seperation

Actually two Almonds are not needed as one could take advantage of the two frequency bands and have one Almond repeat between a 5 MHz and 2.4 MHz unit.
