Title: Recommended 802.11 AC Gb mini NICs
Post by: pete on August 09, 2014, 10:35:40 am
Looking to test with laptops / other devices with 802.11AC Gb stuff.

What are you guys using relating to mini PCIE card testing.

Today I utilize mini PCiE 802.11 AGN cards and some have combo blue tooth.  My preference today is just keeping the two separate.

I am seeing a bunch of Intel 802.11AC cards on Amazon today.

I am open to any reasonably priced card to test with and asking for recommendations?

We've mainly been using an Asus desktop card (PCE-AC66) so far for testing, but we have some other card that we're going to test from Intel and others. Technically most cards should work just fine, but I'd recommend Intel for one simply reasons, they have drivers on their website and you don't have to get drivers from some random website due to the fact that the manufacturer only works with OEM/ODM's.

I upgraded both of our laptops using the Intel 7260 HMW cards.  I couldn't find anything out there for sale (except in bulk quantity) that had 3x3 mimo, so still limited to 866 Mbps.

There aren't any afaik. Apple supports 3x3, but all the PC cards, unless you go for Asus' desktop cards, are only 2x2.
