Hi,
Installed r069 yesterday, all went fine.
Just tried the hue support now...
I wouldn't really call it beta, right?
It works very strangely. I added my bridge and it told me it found 4 bulbs. I have 18 ???
I did a refresh and it found a couple more.
After that, refreshing didn't find anything anymore.
And then I went to check the connected sensors to control the lights.
They were listed as bulb1, bulb2,...
Why is this working like this? You can just 'extract' a list of bulbs and their names from the bridge, so I don't get why I only see half my lights with no name associated...
-
I riceved my Almond+ today !
The 1rst thing I try after integrate the router in my network was to configurate Hue.
I succed in add the bridge, but same issue for Bulbs. I found 3 of 5 (3 lamp I gess but not the 2 strings).
[Edit : If I understaind well what I've read, strings are not implemented yet. So for me, all my bulbs are connected but still appear as Unsuported]
-
Right now the hue bulbs only work via the LCD and I think the local web UI, not the apps or the cloud.
-
I can confirm ! After few tests, Hue are OK but we can use it onely thanks to LCD UI

The problem is not how to use them. The lights aren't correctly discovered when you add the Hue-bridge...
1. Not all lights are added.
2. The lights that are added don't have a name so you don't know which light it is.
-
Keep in mind that this is still in beta, we're still working on improving things and some improvements have already been done internally, but I'm not sure when it'll be released.
-
Has anything changed in the R069cb-firmware to better support the Hue's now?
-
No new device types are supported yet, but otherwise I don't really know, there was nothing in the release notes, hence why I didn't add anything.
We got a LUX bulb and a light strip now that we're going to send to our software team this week and we should be getting some other stuff soon.
-
Support for LIFX would be great 8)
-
I wanted to try the rules today, but since I only have sensors (door/window, motion and keyfobs) I couldn't add a rule (I could only define the If, not the Then).
So I tried adding my Hue's again, which wasn't a great success last time, and unfortunately wasn't this time either.
I didn't get all my bulbs, but the weird thing is that they are listed as "unsupported device" and I can't control them, not even just on/off...
So now I still can't make any rules :'(
-
Thanks for the heads up, I'll have words with the software team as I'm pretty sure on/off was working before through the local web UI.
-
Strange, on the LCDUI, the lights are listed ok, and all the controls for on/off/color are available. However, I'm not able to control them, the buttons have no effect.
-
Are you saying you can't even control them from the LCD now?
-
Yep...
-
Hmm, will have to try in the office tomorrow

LUX bulb? Did you mean LIFX? :-) Crossing his fingers... That would be awesome! 8)

I just tested it and I have control, so not sure what's going on on your side. Try removing and adding the hue hub again.
-
After a reboot, I can control my Hue's from the LCD.
In WebUI and app they are still marked as unsupported though...
Also note that they start at Bulb #9, strange no?
-
It's not really strange as bulb #9 would've been the 9th sensors you've added... maybe not quite logical, but the sensors are numbered as they're added to the Almond+.
We'll have support for the hue bulbs in the next release of the apps, which we have more or less ready, but we're waiting for the notifications stuff to be done on the backend.
-
Ah yes, I have 8 sensors, so that would be correct :)
So for now, it's normal that they are not supported, also on the WebUI?
-
Sadly it looks that way, for now.
-
Yep,
I can confirm that Hue are not supported in WebUI
-
So, we're at R072 now, the Hue-support has been reworked a lot and should not be in alpha-state any more.
But still...
- Since flashing to beta R071, my hub frequently disconnects from the Hue-portal (I don't get why, this is not linked to your Hue-support, it's just basic network-functionality)
- LivingWhites Plugs still don't appear in the discovered devices
- Rules aren't working at all, or go completely crazy
- Controlling devices from app, WebUI, or Connect-site is not working (having tried LCD, don't use it)
So because it was reworked completely, I thought that maybe I should remove and add the hub again.
Bad idea!
- I'm unable to add my hub now. When trying to add it, the lcd just flashes once and that's it.
- In the app and the Connect-site, 3 lights appear to be 'stuck', they shouldn't be there anymore. On the WebUI and LCDUI they are gone (why still the differences between these 4 interfaces!?!?, aren't you just making life hard on yourself this way?)
As you can see, Hue-support is still useless.... I really don't get why this is taking so long, if you see how many great FREE apps there are for Android/iOS/WP/... made by just hobbyists basically.
[edit]
After a couple of refreshes, the 3 stuck lights have disappeared.
I'll keep trying to add the hub again...
-
Had to roll back to 69cb in order to reinstall. Then reupgrded to 72. Obviously there are still bugs in this area. No amounts of reboot, etc worked until I rolled back. It joined immediately under 69cb.
-
Rolling back kind of defeats the purpose why I removed it in the first place. :)
I read in another thread somewhere that Lars said it might be a good idea to remove the hub if you're having problems with it, because between R069 and R072 a lot of things have changed.
Indeed, a lot has changed, it doesn't work anymore :(
Doesn't this get tested before a firmware is released?
-
I understand. I keep my HUE hub in play as it gives me the option of controlling the lights when the less than reliable Almond cloud crashes. It also offers options the "Do everything" Almond is supposed to do but doesn't. I will stick with my hub until this thing either works or I decide to ditch it and go with another solution. good luck.
-
You'll always have to stick with your hub because your lights are linked to it. Almond uses your hub to control the lights :)
-
With that said then I guess they better get busy working out the bugs

Well, it works for me, so not sure what's going on in your case. One thing I did find though was that I had to reset the hue hub for it to behave properly. Apparently the hue hubs can go a bit weird after you've used them with a lot of different devices and thus need to be reset to work properly again.
Any chance you'd be interested in helping our developer sorting out the issues?
-
I'm always willing to help out, but not if it requires me to reset my hub ;-) I have too many lights, plugs and remotes associated to just reset it for no real reason.
I can install and link any app without a problem, so I really do think the problem is located in the Almond, not the hub.
Your dev can contact me if he needs me to test anything or send logs :-)
-
Fair enough, I'm just saying what has helped here.
I've asked our hue developer to work with you, let's see if you two can figure something out.
