Title: Notification on network device active
Post by: heschong on June 10, 2016, 03:18:42 pm
Is there any way to trigger a notification when an existing device comes on the network (rather than just an unknown device joining for the first time)?  I can't seem to find an action in Rules, or any way to do this otherwise.

@ heschong,

As long as the notification is set to Always and grace period is completed, we would get the notification for any existing device joining the network.

Are you talking about a notification on the iPhone from the Almond app?  Because I have never seen it show a notification other than when a new device joins.  I know joining can be used as a trigger, but there is no "send notification via iPhone app" action that can be run on that trigger.

@ heschong,

What I meant was, if we would like to get a notification when the device leaves the network it happens only when Notification is set to always and grace period is completed. If you go under settings, there is an option to customize the notifications.

I can't get device notifications to work. I tried "only when away" and always on my phone, tv, and friends phone. At no point in all of my tests did my iOS app register a notification, and nothing shows up in the logs either.

@ vittriano,

It seems like we had a small issue at our end for some time, please recheck now it should be working.
