Title: Almond Android app now on Google Play
Post by: LGNilsson on July 10, 2014, 04:18:21 am
The Android version of the Almond app has been approved and can be downloaded from Google Play by using the link the below. We're still waiting for the iOS app to be approved, but it's coming.

Can the developers comment on the requested permissions for the app?  I'm not sure why the app needs access to my *phone's* camera and microphone.  Likewise the log data on the phone.

It won't be accessing either, it's simply something we missed in the settings and the options will be removed in the next version.

Great to hear.  Permissions are always the crazy point in apps.  Make sure to update the "What's New" on the app when you update it to indicate the improvements.  So many developers skip that and removing permissions show's that you take security seriously.

Will do and this was something that has already been pointed out to the developer in charge of the app.
We're still new at this and this is simply a teething issue.

I'm running the Android L developer preview on my phone and there seems to be a bug where I can't tap on any of my router settings.  They display but don't do anything when I tap on them (like the second screen on the Play store photos).  I know I'm ahead of the curve running Android L and a few other apps seem to have the same issue.  I figured I'd let you guys know about it so it's not a big complaint when L is officially released and it becomes more common.

I have the same issue and I am running 4.4.4 on my Nexus 5.

I'm running 4.3 and I can't either...not sure anything is supposed to be there at this point.

The router settings were disabled as things weren't quite ready on the Almond+. They'll get enabled after we release the new firmware. Apologies about the confusion.

Thanks for the responses, when I see something not working right now I just assume it's android L.  The play store reviews seemed like everything was working.

It would be nice if the app could give you a walkthrough, demo, or faked Almond + so we could try it out a bit while waiting for our actual device to arrive. Although I will be the first to admit I would rather the developers focus on real bugs and such... But for those of us waiting the app does not do much. Maybe a simulated device could be made available and we could get the qr code for that?

Android App.

Feature Request: Add Almond+ remote ip address

Bonus Feature Request: Automatic VPN configuration (Almond+ server, android device client)

With the dyndns servers switching to paid models, I'd very much like to have the Almond+ software tell me what the external internet IP address of my Almond+ is, super bonus points if the Android software can interact with the cloud server and local device to correctly configure the VPN connection.

Worked last night, this morning "unable to connect to cloud server".
All other functions of router, web ui (10.10.10.254), connect.securifi.com/home etc all good.

It's our bad, we've been doing some changes to the cloud service and something clearly isn't working as it's supposed to, I'm on the chase...

+1 for the request of external internet IP address being displayed in the app, really needed for VPN

With the sensors installed, is there an option on the apps to alert (sound/notification?) user when it is armed? Useful when away from home.
Possibly even auto arm based on a schedule. For example arm from 9am and disarm at 5pm on weekdays.

It's coming, in fact, it's planned for the next release which will be in a week or two.
Auto arm etc. will come with the automation afaik.
