Title: Kickstarter Project: FlipFlic
Post by: fillibar on April 02, 2016, 01:45:25 pm
This may be of interest for some people. A Kickstarter project named FlipFlic which is for controlling blinds.

In addition to the "normal" Bluetooth support nowadays, they are having them controllable by ZigBee. It will respond to On/Off/Dim where they tilt the blinds certain amounts. Further, the sensors built in will report temperature and ambient light. They are already planning on supporting SmartThings and such (of course) but it should be possible to use with an Almond as well I would think. Either way, I am backing it and thought others might be interested.

I have very much been trying to cut back on Kickstarter... but some things just seem too useful when combined with other things I have already gotten. We have 2 blinds these will work for. When they get their "corded" variety made... that could add another two. I wanted to have these all be controlled originally but even simple "open/close" electronic systems cost hundreds per blind, it was crazy.

Feel free to shoot me some cool projects in return sometime.  ;)
