Title: Waiting for IP
Post by: Trashcanjack on March 28, 2014, 09:43:32 am
I just got my Almond, intending to use it as a range extender.  I am trying to set it up, and it has failed at the stage of "Waiting for IP."

It has done this 10 times.  I am now trying it in the same room as my router.

There is a review on Amazon that says that this is a firmware problem.  Is that true?

I bought this this in the hope it would be easy to use, and now that I read on amazon about how to correct the firmware problem is sounds like a nightmare that will take me half a day.

Before I send this thing back and give it a hateful review, is there anything simple and easy I could try?

Can you give our support team a call? http://www.securifi.com/support
They'll walk you through it and make sure you're using the latest firmware etc.

I, too, was a victim of "Waiting for IP", and I have the latest firmware. In my case, I solved it by assigning a fixed IP address to the Almond unit. I used 192.168.1.253 (my base router is at 192.168.1.1) and it now works perfectly. I'm not sure why this was needed, as all the other devices in my network receive their IPs automatically from the router.

Update: I did a reset to factory settings and went through the normal (DHCP from router) setup again. It works fine.
