Title: Extended or Meshed?
Post by: longshadows on November 30, 2016, 03:22:15 pm
I have two new A3's for full-house coverage.  I set the 2nd unit up as an "extender," but I still have trouble in that part of the house.  Someone said I should have configured it as part of a "meshed" network.  What's the difference and will a re-configure to a meshed network require that I then have to reconnect all of my many wifi devices?  Thanks!

Meshed network is an improvement and is all one ssid network which newer devices can switch between without obtaining dropping the old connection first. It should offer speed improvements over an extender and it can tell you the quality of the connection. As long as the extender currently uses the same SSID and password than no new per device should be required. I highly recommend setting it up as a mesh. Also, if your house is fairly spread out you may need / want 3 Almond 3's. I am using three and it provides excellent coverage.
