Title: Home Automation Web UI Walkthrough?
Post by: liquix on December 30, 2013, 10:18:45 am
On the Kickstarter update we saw a great walkthrough of the general UI for the router options and it said the home automation walk through was coming soon. Just wanted to see if you are getting close to giving us that walk through? I think it would be great to get feedback from us to make sure you going down the right path. Of particular interest is how IFTTT scripts are created, how devices are added, how developer apps are added, etc.

As I am sure you know, the web UI on other HA devices are terrible and I think we are all excited to finally get a HA device that might actually have a clean and easy to use UI that is also powerful. Even some screenshots would be great!

We're still working on this part, the initial stuff will be via the touch screen and if all goes well, we might have a short video for you on Friday, but no promises as we're busy prepping for CES.
IFTTT is not something we've promised support for, but we'll have something similar, although it might not be there when we ship the beta/dev units, as we're working on making the basics really stable for starters.
We're still tweaking the Z-Wave stuff, as there are a lot of requirements we have to meet to pass the Z-Wave certification, but that's nearly done now. As for ZigBee, well, the tricky part here is to identify what the sensors/devices can do and our software team has come up with a way that we can query the sensors/devices, but it still requires some additional work. Add sensors is a piece of cake, as you simply tap "Associate" in the touch screen and then press the button on the sensor/device, regardless of standard and it'll connect. Our cloud based web app is already up and running and works quite well and I'll see if we can't include this in the video too, but it's really a matter of how much time I have to do all this stuff before CES, since I'm flying on Sunday to the show and I'm the guy doing the videos...

Sorry, it's been manic here.

A few things aren't finalized yet, but from what I've been told, should be done in the next week or two, so I'd rather wait until that is finished to give you a proper look at things.
