Title: Remotec Zwave Dry Contact Fixture Module (Garage door opener)
Post by: Vito on March 12, 2014, 01:06:22 pm
This is used to open and close the garage door, and is also one of the first things I'll be testing.  I'll follow up shortly with the results...

I'm attaching the instructions, for reference to features.

So that's just a simple binary switch? As in on/off? If so, it should work.

It is a simple binary switch, but it would be great to add a button feature, like a garage door button, or a doorbell, which would send a closed then open command.  Potentially, users may want to specify whether its  set to normally open or normally closed.  They may also need a setting for the time between setting it closed and open (some targets may not respond if the time is too short).

I was merely speaking from the most basic functionality of the sensor, since the rest has more to do about how you interact with the sensor. What we need to know is what type of device functionality it has, so the Almond+ can interact with it properly and in this case then it should be a binary switch.

I was able to associate this switch without issue, and it shows up as a binary switch.  However, there are additional features that would ideally be available, such as push-button simulation (from open, to closed, and back to open), as well as a timing setting to set the time between state changes.

Other than that, it does actually work - with the exception that changing the state of the button takes too long within the Almond+ (the state changes seemed to back up, to the point that the door opened up a good minute after I was finished playing with it).

Ok, I've added it to the "shopping list"  ;)
