IFTTT isn't for regular home automation. It's not for "Oh at X time, turn on the lights."
It's for integration with other platforms. For example, Automatic. When I turn off my car in my driveway, wait 15-30 seconds, turn on lights and/or Unlock Door.
Of if the weather reaches a certain temperature, automatically turn on the AC, and have the AC automatically turn off when it's cooler out.
It's not really about Nest or Hue, those are just some bonuses. I'm sure there's a million other recipes people could think up. And a lot of it is a bunch of stuff that would be impossible or impractical to build straight into the router.

The problem with IFTTT, as mentioned before, is that it's far from instant. So, as I see it, your car scenario wouldn't be feasible. The weather/thermostat might be workable though as you wouldn't need it to change within moments.
Now, if you wanted to automate lights and door locks, maybe you could add a door switch to your garage door and trigger off of that.

I'd like to add a +1 to this.
Personally, I don't have Automatic but I was thinking when I pull in and my phone connects to home wifi turn on the lights and open the door.
Doesn't need to be instant in a lot of these cases

I said this before, so I'll say it again... OpenHAB, Nebrios, IFTTT, or tasker - I don't care. Just give me something I can use to get more sophisticated automation rules, scenes, etc.. Ideally, the engine would be running on the Almond+, but if I need to, I'd be happy to have my cell phone, or an external server do the automation. The ability to interface to external triggers (not just zigbee and z-wave events) would be a huge benefit as well.

I would also like securifi to make a channel avilable to IFTTT. It would provide additional flexibility.

I'd like to vote YES for IFTTT support as well. It would open the door to a lot of potential.

You all realize you can accomplish this with a $30 Raspberry Pi that SSh's to the A+ and executes commands, right?

That sounds great. But short of downloading, compiling and installing the SDK, I don't see how to query/command sensors from the CLI. I do plan on diving into that soon, but there's a HUGE gap between being able to cobble together a few chained commands via IFTTT and busting out an SDK and learning how to develop on the A+.

Yes there is a little leg work, not much really and not too challenging for any DIY'er but I take your point. Here's hoping that API will be available "soon" as promised. 8) Short of that...
I've already shared compiled binaries with basic functionality and it will work with a variety of the popular RaspPi operating systems. Let me know if you have any questions if you go that route and I'll be happy to help.

I'd love to see them! The link to the SDK in the wiki is behind a private google account. And I just happen to have an rPi that would be perfect for this.

Any movement for IFTTT integration? I just got my batch of Qmotes, and I would love to be able to integrate and control the house with them:
Too hot, double tap, and lower the AC
Too cold, triple tap, and raise the heat
Hear a spooky noise? Single tap and turn on the lights
All without even touching my iPhone or iPad...
The possibilities are endless.
