Title: Wemo bulbs
Post by: LGNilsson on January 03, 2015, 02:09:03 am
We just got some Wemo bulbs and I can confirm they work well with the Almond+.
There's no need to get their hub, as the bulbs use ZigBee.
Admittedly these bulbs are twice the price of the GE bulbs, but it's also one of few ZigBee bulbs available outside of the US.

Put up some simple instructions on the Wiki - http://wiki.securifi.com/index.php?title=WeMo_Smart_LED_bulb

It's a little bit buggy in the apps and web UI's, as the dimmer bar jumps back to 100% even though the bulb has been set to a lower setting. Apart from that it seems to be working just fine and this doesn't happen in the LCD UI, so it shouldn't be too hard for the software team to fix and I've already let them know about it.

The dimmer state is also saved if you turn off/on the bulb.

What about other wemo devices?

They use Wi-Fi, so you'll have to use the WeMo app with them. We might consider it in the future, but we're not entirely sure it makes sense, as you can get ZigBee and Z-Wave devices at the same or lower cost.

Speaking of WeMo, it looks like we just got a few more candidates https://gigaom.com/2015/01/04/belkin-expands-wemo-line-with-four-new-sensors/

Ok so today my Wemo bulb arrived from Komplett.

And although I can turn it on and off from both LCD, WEB and Android App, it does not work well when dimming or when trying to turn it on with a Rule.

Trying to Dim it is not possible for example to slide and have the lamp dim along with the position of the slider. Instead I have to tap on a level and hope it is the correct one.
Also frequently the interface will lock, especially on the phone, it can take seconds to get any feedback after trying to dim.
And It will always show 99% light level in the GUI, no matter what level has been set.

I tried setting up two rules to turn on the lamp when a door was opened and off when closed.
It turned off when closing but could not turn it back on when opening the door, It reports the lamp as on, but it is not.
Also after using a rule to turn it on or off, then it is no longer possible to turn it on through the interface, it will seem like I turn it on and off, and the interface will report it as on or off, but the lamp does not actually turn on.
Setting a Dim level however will turn the lamp on.

I'm using the 069cb firmware.

The current r069cb does not have many supported sensors. Bulbs can be turned off but not on. It is a known issue.

I've seen most of the UI bugs, although they work really well with the LCD UI oddly enough.
We'll get this fixed fairly quickly I'd say, as it's not major things to fix and I'll be talking to the software team about it as soon as I'm back in the office.
