My bigger issue with this is actually that if you use the web UI to change the password for 'root' to something else, and then view that screen on the router's interface, the password is set back to 'root'.

We're aware of the missing LCD pin code and this is something that will be added alongside the screen blanking. I'm trying to get an ETA as to when this will be done.

I've reported this bug as well, as you're correct, that is an issue that we shouldn't be having.

Could you guys also looking in to advanced security settings. It is of my opinion, that even after one has entered a password to unlock the lcd, they still should not be able to see any passwords in plaintext, certainly not the root.

I've passed this request on to the software team.

Please look into this request and implement. Many of us install this router in a family accessible location, and showing router login and password is big security issue, even if there is an LCD lock password. Cannot install this at my home for this single reason alone.
Same also goes for WIFI password. Cannot show these either, or there should be an option to hide all passwords, and that option should be protected by a very private password not shown anywhere.
Thanks

But if you lock the screen, then no-one can see the passwords.
Admittedly we have an issue right now with the screen lock in that it doesn't come back on straight away after a reboot, but my understanding is that it'll be fixed in the next firmware release.
So without the pin code for the LCD, no-one will be able to access anything.
It's hardly a big security issue, but yes, we understand your concern, but at the same time, these things where added to the LCD UI as a means of 1. convenience 2. allowing the user to find the randomly generated passwords easily 3. making it easy to change the passwords.

I was hoping to lock the administration functions on the LCD, but allow anyone access to check the sensors, select a scene, that sort of stuff.

Appreciate the reply Lars! What I mean is, family may end up sharing LCD PIN, but we still may not want ALL in the family to know routers root password. Kids (and adults) that don't know what they are doing might corrupt or brick the router. I like MR23's idea of locking just administration functions.

I am confident you will implement this and more features in future, and am willing to wait.

Makes sense, we got a bit of work to do before this will happen though.

Lars,

I read in the 'Known Bugs for R065' you mention that there is a way to password protect the LCD but it is NOT clear at all how to do that and a search of the forums fails to find what I need.

http://forum.securifi.com/index.php/topic,1248.0.html

Can you kindly explain how I can password/pin protect my LCD?

Thanks in advance

On the LCD, Go to More -> Settings -> Screen Settings then put a check mark in "Screen Lock" and enter your desired PIN to unlock.

Is it possible, that on the current european FW there is no settings button? (My screen won't even go to sleep right now...)

Did you upgrade the firmware?
