Title: Router lock up
Post by: dataguy on August 20, 2014, 05:29:49 am
A+ running R065. Installed about two days. Router has completely locked up twice (no LAN port activity, LCD does not wake, endpoints have no connectivity) and recovers with power cord pull. I did a factory reset after the first time, but it's become unresponsive since then. Don't know if it's related, but unit runs extremely hot to the touch.

Make that three times, this time less than 20 min after power reset. Sending e-mail to support.

We've had a few reports on this on R065 but we can't reproduce it. Would you be willing to work with our software team to try to figure out what's going on?

Can you please be a bit more specific than extremely hot, since that doesn't really tell us much I'm afraid. Yes, the Almond+ does get warm due to its compact size and the heat is being moved from the bottom to the top using a heat pipe (the same kind most notebooks use) and as such, the top is a lot warmer than the bottom. That said, I can easily put my hand on top of the one right next to me now without any problem, but yes, it's most definitely warm.

Absolutely willing, Lars.

Hotter than I was expecting for as little load on the box and relative to the amount of time the unit is on, but perhaps that is normal. I can try to quantify with a Thermodo reading of ambient vs exhaust you think it would be helpful.

Lockup #4 while measuring temp using Thermodo sensor.
25.3C ambient
39.1C surface of top of unit (exhaust) after 45 min and when the unit became unresponsive. CPU was 0.03.

It's not a temperature issue for sure.
We've found a potential cause for the lockups and I'll get someone from the software team to follow up with you to see if it's the same on your unit.

Thanks. Locked up twice more. It's not useable in the current state.

The support team should be getting in touch with you.

I am having the same issue with latest firmware. I have also done a hard reset, but it continues to lock up. I'm using AP mode. Earlier today I sent an email to support reporting the problem.

Same issue here. Just sent off a support email. I'm directly connected to the router via LAN and having constant crashes every 5 minutes or so.
