Title: Reset button
Post by: RobLewis on August 24, 2014, 11:55:41 am
Is use of the reset button documented anywhere? I seem to have accidentally erased all my settings by holding it down too long?

Is there a difference between a short press and a long one?

Idea: put a warning on the touchscreen before wiping out all user settings.

Rob,
As far as I have read, any reset via the reset button wipes the settings because it is restoring it to factory using a cached version of the current firmware. Other than a failure of the Almond+ for some reason, a reboot is the ideal way to retain settings to resolve some issues. Also, you can backup your settings prior to a reset if you do need to perform one for any reason. If you go to the WebUI and click on the software box, a dialog box for doing this is there.

@RobLewis, holding down the reset button for an extended period of time result in factory reset. This would wipe out any personalized settings. While a simple reboot might fix any minor glitches, you may try what is suggested by robh5791 i.e back up your settings prior performing a hard reset, if you have to at all. Well, your suggestion to add a warning on the touch screen sounds like a plan, will take it up.

By the way, have not seen any difference between a long press or a short press of the reset button. However, it requires a certain number of seconds to be held down and release before the reset process starts.
