Title: Almond+ and XBMC remote
Post by: Andy on September 03, 2014, 06:55:25 pm
Hi all,

Has anyone been able to control xbmc (openelec / rpi in my case -> http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php/Installing_OpenELEC_on_Raspberry_Pi (http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php/Installing_OpenELEC_on_Raspberry_Pi)) with a ip remote (yatse / android in my case -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.leetzone.android.yatsewidgetfree&hl=en (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.leetzone.android.yatsewidgetfree&hl=en) )?  After fiddling for a while i am able to register openelec/rpi server in yatse remote, but pressing any yatse buttons has no effect.  If i replace A+ by my old router (dd-wrt based), everything works.  Am i missing any firewall or port forwarding settings?  Please let me know if you have any ideas/suggestions.

Thanks,
Andy

Andy,

I've got openelec on my rpi and am using the "XBMC Remote" on my android phone.  Once I realized that the rpi had a completely different IP address when hooked up to the A+ and correctly put that in the XBMC Remote settings, it works just fine.  I did not have to make any changes on the A+ at all.

Good luck,

Brian

@bwainscott - Thanks, Brian!  I will monkey around with it some more.  My problem is that i can see the xmbc web server running on rpi (on the ip address assigned by a+) and can connect to it via yatse, but yatse is not able to do anything after i connect.  I will try the Official XBMC Remote https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.xbmc.android.remote&hl=en (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.xbmc.android.remote&hl=en), maybe it's different now from last time i tried it (when it was still kind of junky)

XBMC on Windows 7 is receiving my Yatse commands from my Nexus 4 just fine, and my set up was just like yours (WRT610N with DD-WRT). Haven't done any port forwarding either. Have you looked at the XBMC and Almond+ logs? I don't know if Yatse keeps any, but you could check those too.
