Title: Timers for Zigbee & Z-wave devices
Post by: willoneal on September 07, 2014, 09:14:56 pm
Is there any way to set a timer (unattended on/off) for a connected device? If so, I can't find it.

Not yet, it'll be part of the automation once we add it.

Any updates on when timers can be setup for devices? Thanks

Afraid not, I'm still waiting for it myself so...  :-\

Will home automation be in R067?

Not sure, but notifications should be there as we've just started testing that internally. Looking promising so far, as we'll have per sensor control for notifications.

Once I sorted out the startup script, I got cron to work as a basic timer for the lights in our house (we've got a bunch of GE Link bulbs thanks to the comments elsewhere on this forum). The Almond+ has been very reliably (current uptime 44 days) dimming and switching lights on and off since I posted about the fix I found here:

If there's interest (send me a message or reply here) I'll write up the instructions in stepwise detail. It's actually quite straightforward (especially if you're already familiar with crontabs) and the fix for the startup script is simple.

Request Wiki access and then write it up there. It shouldn't take very long to get the basics in there, then tweak it if necessary. Then everyone can benefit from it.

I've had a couple of requests now so I'll write up the steps. I'm going to get R067 installed first and then post the steps required once I've got it working again.
