Title: WiFi performance degraded
Post by: syntax1269 on September 21, 2014, 11:38:09 pm
seems like the R066 update performance has been degraded since last update. 2.4 and 5ghz bands don't seem to transfer as fast as previous firmware. anyone else experience this?

Yes, I'm experiencing a significant degradation. I have a very fast internet connection and was getting 115 Mbps download speeds via 5GHz WiFi with R065. That's dropped in half in R066.

I experienced low throughputs since R065....  and did not experience any significant decrease in overall throughput in R066

BUT i did experience disconnections in R066 (which did not occur previously) - i think i'm one of the unfortunate few that will have device that disconnects on the 5ghz bandwidth.

I'm still waiting for securifi to get back to me on the speed optimisation for wifi. I actually have 1 Gbps internet connection at home and if this doesn't get fixed, I know what i'm buying myself for Christmas 2014 - 1x shiny new AC router.

I held off on the RO66 upgrade after getting my replacement router and having solid performance with RO65 with the replacement. After I read about the VPN IPsec issue I thought to hold off and now hearing about disconnect issues with 5 GHz and the slower performance I am doubly glad I have not updated. Will wait and see what RO67 will improve and/or break

This is really strange, as we haven't made any changes to anything Wi-Fi related in R066, so this makes no sense at all.

We're working on updating the Wi-Fi drivers, but I can't promise we'll have that ready for R067, but hopefully this will be done in time for the next release.
