Title: Wired Bridging
Post by: curach on September 24, 2014, 02:25:42 pm

Hi,

I am trying to connect my new Almond+ to my existing wired/wireless network. I would like to Almond+ wire from my existing router, leave it on the same subnet and be able to connect wired and wireless devices. I have done with with other routers, but am having trouble with the Almond+ for some reason. Is there some instructions somewhere to do this?

Thanks.

Did you upgrade to the latest firmware?
If so, try the AP mode on the second screen of the LCD UI.

Thanks. I am on the latest firmware and this seems to work. Is it possible to set a static IP address for the Almond+ in this mode?

You'd have to assign a static DHCP lease to it from your main router.

Ok - thanks. I am used to being able to setup a static IP on any device I connect (including routers). I don't like the idea of key items on my network moving just because I change 1 piece of equipment. Maybe something for future updates.

We'll most like not include it as using static IP addresses is and old fashioned way if doing things. Static DHCP leases does exactly what you want to do, but it's controlled centrally from the router which gives you much better control over your devices and less of a chance of running into IP address conflicts. I highly recommend you look into it.
