Title: Trouble adding sensor
Post by: mlaw8 on October 05, 2014, 11:26:27 am
I need some help...I was able to add a sensor and then was having trouble using it with the iOS app (which I've sinced read is not really ready). I went ahead and removed the sensor from the router, but am now not able to add it back. No matter what I've tried, the router will not find the sensor to re-add it. Any ideas? A bug?

Thanks

Did you follow the included instructions? You need to press and hold the button for 10 seconds to reset the sensor before you can add it again.

While I did not see this in the sensor instructions, I have since tried this (hold button on sensor for 10 seconds) and then have tried multiple times to re-add it with no luck. Any other ideas? The sensor is an GE 45605. Thanks

Ah, I thought you had one of our ZigBee sensors.
For Z-Wave you need to go to Add Sensor in the LCD UI, then tap on remove and then press the button the sensor to remove/reset it before it can be added again. This is one of the quirks with Z-Wave.

That didn't work either...other ideas?

Any chance you can get another Z-Wave sensor?
It's the only way we can now for sure what's causing the problem.
It's possible that either the Almond+ or the switch has a Z-Wave chip for a different frequency, but it's highly unlikely.
You should be able to see the Z-Wave module inside the Almond+ through the air vent just below and slightly left of the power cable.
There's a shiny chip that has some text on it that should read US+ and it's located on a small green square.
If it says anything else, then we've shipped you the wrong thing by mistake.

I bought 2 of the same Z-Wave GE outlets. After I had the problem stated here (once removed sensor can't add it back), I went ahead and added the second unit and it added fine.

Also, I looked and the sticker on the unit says US.

Similar issue in another thread. Apparently you need to just tap the button quite quickly for these switches to pair/reset. You might also have to do it a couple of time for things to register.

I had a 'fun' weeking upgrading my Almond+ and trying to get my Ecolink Zwave door sensor to work.

mlaw8, I'm pretty sure my problem was similar to yours. After a lot of troubleshooting I found that I had first to exclude the sensor. I incorrectly thought that 'Removing the sensor' from Almond was all that was necessary. I even did a few Remove all sensors without any positive results.

Even though my Almond showed no sensors configured I could not repair the sensor. I had originally paired my sensor on R065 firmware so I went back that firmware and did a 'Remove Sensor' thru the Almond UI which placed the Almond in exclusion mode screen. I then proceeded to do the  exclusion procedure on the sensor (removing the battery 5 seconds in my case) and a screen came up saying that the sensor had successfully been removed. After that my zwave sensor was basically back to factory defaults and I could easily pair it to my Almond+.

I then upgraded to R066 firmware which correctly adds support to my sensor which now works as expected.

Good luck!
