Title: Please add RNDIS and CDC-Ether modules for next build
Post by: desuwulf on January 19, 2015, 09:06:20 am
Hi all, Lars,

If someone else has an unofficial functional repo for thees please do tell.

Otherwise, Lars, could you pass on the software team to get the following kmod included in next build:
kmod-usb-net
kmod-usb-net-rndis
kmod-usb-net-cdc-ether

These allow to use many 4G sticks, phone sharing internet in tethering, and a few other wimax dongles to work.

Thanks,

Have you tried requesting this though support email?
The forum is not *really* the right place for change requests.
It's more a place to discuss all the things.

Fine line distinction, I know, but there are more resources than just Lars sitting on the support queue.

I've passed it on to the software team, no guarantees though, as they're a bit paranoid about adding things without testing it first.

Edit: Apparently they're already part of the current firmware, i.e. R069cb. Note that they're part of the kernel and not installed as modules.

So I should be able to plug in a phone or 4g stick and have it tether automatically, or is there setup that has to be done on my end?

I have no idea, I don't know how it works, I've only been told it's been added. There's no UI for it though. That's really all I know.
