My 5Gz wifi was starting to act up lately. I couldn't download files without corruption errors, and Netflix was almost unwatchable. I am on the November version of the latest firmware but wanted to know if anyone else is having this same issue? Really frustrating because the Almond+ was my fastest and smoothest wifi appliance I have in my house. Now I'm back using the cable modem build in crappy wifi solution. I've also rebooted it daily to see if it helps but it does not. Is my Almond+ damaged? It's just sitting on my desk in a cool basement.

I know I have similar issues at my house, and it's unrelated to my A+.
Just for grins, can you try a different 5GHz router temporarily to see if the problem goes away?

You should also try the new firmware from early January to see if that resolves your issues. I can't say I've seen spotless WiFi performance from this firmware, but it does seem much better in my (non empirical) testing when it comes to WiFi on 5ghz. They did update the wireless drivers, whereas the one you say you're using still has the stock wireless drivers which were known to have issues.

I am on the new BETA firmware R069cb. And before switching to Almond+ i was using Cisco EA6900 with similar 2.4G and 5G setups for wireless. My router is in stairwell and one of my client PS3 is approximately 15 feet away from the router (stairwell is closed - so i understand I loose the wi-fi range). However while on Cisco EA6900 i use to get 15~16 Mbps consistently when I perform Network Speed Test on my PS3 Slim, while on Almond+ speeds drops to 2.5~3.5 Mbps.
Is there any known issue with the Wi-Fi performance or this is what I should expect out of the Almond+ ?

I'm using 069cb and just now tested at 20Mb down 6Mb up from/to my ISP, probably throttled at that level. On the 2.5 radio. Through at least the equivalent of a stairwell from 25 feet away, 8 feet up.

mr23 - Did you performed full reset after 069cb ? I am not sure what is contributing to the 2.4G performance. I will try to revert back to the 069 firmware to get the baseline for the comparison this week end.

Installed and rebooted. I have power cycled since then, too.
But not a full reset.

Issue appears to be on 2.4GHz network only. 5GHz AC network gives best possibly download speeds out of my modem which is ~19 mbps on a time warner cable network. Along with hard reset I also tried switching thru channels to avoid possible interference with the 2.4Ghz channels but no luck. Unfortunately most of my Wi-Fi clients does not support 802.11ac so this is deal breaker for me.
I wish SecuriFi to further investigate the 2.4Ghz optimization and enhance the performance of the 2.4Ghz network in upcoming releases.

For what it's worth, running the latest available firmware, it's still dropping packets to the point where Wifi is not useable. Dare I say it's worse than it was before.

Are you seeing packet loss on the 5 GHz, the 2.4, or both? I've noticed that the 2.4 appears to be more stable for me, but am noticing drops in the 5 GHz when playing online games (League of Legends). I've never had a problem with the 2.4 disconnecting, but I'd prefer the 5 for greater throughput if it were as consistent.

Changing 2.4Ghz to use 20/40Mhz bandwidth solved the issue of the slower speeds on the 2.4Ghz networks.

Just a FYI that the 5Gz still drops packets making it useless to watch video's or download files (or use for PC laptops on wifi or devices like AppleTV). I am using R70.
