Title: What does "Wi-Fi performance is still not optimized" mean?
Post by: Karin on February 11, 2015, 02:36:47 pm
I have a simple question that perhaps other long-term lurkers might know the answer to, but I have no idea.

What does "Wi-Fi performance is still not optimized" under the known issues for the R070 release mean?  How will this affect end users?  Are we talking range, throughput, or something else?

Thanks in advance :)

Throughput, as we're still tweaking things. The download speed is good today, but the upload speed is still not quite there.
On a "regular" asymmetrical internet connection you wouldn't really notice this though, but for those that have a symmetrical connection above 200Mbps, or if you have something like a NAS, you would see a reduction in speed for uploads (from the computer to the Almond+/internet/NAS) that's greater than it should be in comparison to the download speed. This only applies to the 5GHz band though.
