Hi,
I am trying to setup a simple rule that would turn on the heat if the current temperature is 66 or less and the mode is off. This is what I see.. How can I do this rule ?

One small feature request. Can you add an enable/disable button on the Rules UI. I might have different winter/summer settings and can selectively enable/disable those.

Bump.. Ami I asking too basic a question?

I think you need a temperature sensor to use as a trigger or wait until weather is implemented as a trigger. I don't know that the temperature on the thermostat can be used as a trigger. Also, enable / disable as well as editing existing rules is pending according to many posts by Lars.

Good point though -- the thermostat reports its current temperature, so it would be nice to be able to use that as a trigger. In fact, the thermostat has LOTS of information available, so it would be nice to be able to use it as several triggers (temp/on state/fan state, etc) which is what d.kiran wants to do. But yeah, looks like that just isn't possible at the moment.

I don't know about other information, but I think the temperature from a thermostat is its main function. I think it should be made available.
I am only now getting into this. Is there a particular technical limitation as to why a temperature from a thermostat cannot be used as a trigger.

Bump. Just checking to see if the current temperature from my thermostat will be made available in the Rules UI or if I need to purchase temperature sensors.

Trying to see if acting like a little kid works ;-)

Sorry you had to come down to these measures. :P
And no, you won't need to purchase a separate temperature sensor. The temperature readings from your thermostat will be used as Rule Triggers as well.
Moreover, we'll have value comparison support as well (eg: Temp. greater/less than the value)
But this is something we still have to implement.
