Title: Key fob states versus home / away
Post by: mparadis on March 12, 2015, 12:18:38 pm
what are the differences between the key fob settings of arm / disarm / perimeter and the home / away settings?

Keyfobs set the 'state' of your sensors and home/away just controls your notifications?

What does changing the "state" of my sensors actually change?

Hm, didn't explain it very well I guess :)

The sensors themselves don't actually change (if I understand it correctly myself ofcourse....), it's just the keyfob that changes to arm/disarmed.
This state can be used in a rule (IF keyfob armed AND motion detected THEN siren on)
The home/away settings are (for now?) just used to manage your notifications from the app I think?

Ohh okay, now it makes total sense. Thanks!

Currently the key fob doesn't really do anything.
You can use it as a remote using the rules, but the idea is that the arm/disarm would be the away/home modes longer term.

Excellent that's what I was hoping for eventually.

Is the keyfob controlling the home/away setting something to do with rules?
So that really ANY item could trigger you to be home or away as you desire?
While a keyfob would certainly be handy for it I can think of other ways using switches or motion detectors or combinations thereof. I think it would just be "neat" to be able to switch between home and away as a rule outcome.

That is what exactly we intend to do.  :)
With the new feature we can use Almond Mode as a Trigger as well as Actions for the Rules. Any device can toggle the Almond Home/Away Mode.

Nice.
Combining ease of use with additional features and complexity for those that want it is difficult, but Securifi seems to be trying very hard to meet that ideal.
