Title: Cross compatibility within manufacturer
Post by: obmd1 on March 15, 2015, 12:53:23 am
If a light switch from a particular manufacturer has been tested and is listed as compatible, does it stand to reason that those available through that manufacturer that have not been tested would also work? Leviton and GE have wall switches that are not listed, but also have at least one that is. I understand that functions may not be completely supported, but at least on/off might work?

I'm specifically interested in the GE 12722 or the Leviton DZS15. Any thoughts?

The answer is maybe.

We've had some things like this where we've added support for a device from one manufacturer and it has worked with similar devices from another 10 manufacturers. We've had cases where we've added one type of sensor from a manufacturer, but it doesn't work with another of the same type from the same company...

It's tricky to say, but the Leviton DZS15 is supported in R070as, so that works if you install that firmware. The GE might work, but I honestly couldn't say.

I have the GE 12722 working successfully since R069 (currently running R070as with no issues)
