Title: LeakSmart Water Valve
Post by: fillibar on March 15, 2015, 04:40:07 pm
Has anyone tried out the LeakSmart Water Valve available at Lowe's? $159 for a 3/4" water valve is much lower than what I have found for comparable ones online as most I have seen are $200-$400. Having a battery backup to control it makes it even better but it still seems like these are a pretty high priced item for what should be a fairly simple thing.

Yes, I did try it. The valve works fine on A+ but the sensor did not work. The leak sensor also has a temperature sensor and had a proprietary code. I ended up returning the kit.

Thanks for letting me know. Still have not found what I consider a good option. At this point it has become low priority. Maybe driving a regular electric one using a ZigBee or Z-Wave relay.

The Lowes by me had one left as clearance. For $40 I was willing to get it. Works fine.

Both, yes. It is treated as a binary switch.

I'll need to check Lowes.

Unfortunately mine only had the one. I definitely would have bought as many as they had there and offered some up here first. Oh well.

Of course with everything else I am working on, it will be some time before I get around to installing it.
