Title: SmartThingsSmartSense Multi Sensor
Post by: k1m on June 09, 2015, 01:21:35 am
This is listed as a compatible sensor on your wiki and lists in the forum. However, it doesn't allow anything more than window/door open close status. Almond doesn't even acknowledge the temperature option. The vibration option is just the open/close option relabeled. When is this sensor going to become fully supported.  It is an awfully expensive open/close switch otherwise. Thank you for your timely response.

Quick extra bit of info, I updated to R80 (much better overall than R76 BTW) and removed, then reconnected with the sensor.

Interesting device.

https://shop.smartthings.com/#!/products/smartsense-multi

Senses the following;

Open Close is a Binary,Yes/No or On/Off sense
Vibration is a Binary,Yes/No or On/Off sense (or what Smart Things calls "Active")
Orientation or Angle - from a video, it appears to really just sense movement via vibration or open / close, not an actual angle?
Temperature - be nice to get an outdoor temp, if it's rated for outdoors

So it would seem that all sensing would be binary except Temperature, is this correct?

Bump. I have asked this question more than once, In both home automation, under other peoples topics that fit the appropriate device type and now as it's own individual topic. I would really like some form of acknowledgment please. You know like "we don't know" or "we don't care", something would be nice. Thanks.

Guys, this is just wrong. He has asked this multiple times and this requires a response.

@ k1m,

I am not exactly sure, if we are adding the support for SmartThingsSmartSense Multi Sensor right now or not. I would get back with a confirmation by tomorrow.

@ All,

The Smartthing Multisensor is not using HA1.2 profile for all its features, whatever feature that uses HA 1.2 we have added support for it. They are using their own specific communication for other features, hence, we would not be able to add support for those.

@Ashok, then this would be the perfect time to update  this sensor's comments on the compatibility list to specify what works and what doesn't. People see devices on the list and go out and buy them (me included) and find out it works, kinda.

I will update the sensor list.

Specifically, what functions are working and what are not?

The functions that are HA1.2 should work.

Please Review and comment on the following:

Open/Close - working
Vibration - working? NOTE: Vibration is a yes/no on/off binary sense, is it broken out separately for display
Temperature - not working

Is the above correct? or no...

Open/Close door sensor works. Vibration is nothing more than open/close with a different name as is motion. So, ultimately it is just a really expensive door/window sensor. Tilt doesn't work, temperature doesn't work. The device will only report one state. Nothing more.  I wish that had been laid out on the wiki from the start.

@ k1m,

I can understand your concern, however, we got to know that recently while trying to add the support for it. And I would ensure that will try to update the details about the sensor support clearly on our Wiki list.

@ SecureComp,

Thank you for trying to update it on our Wiki list.
