Hi there folks
Seems to be a problem locating Zigbee enabled equipment and I wonder if anyone can help out? Based in the UK so need our "unique" 3 square pin based kit
-
I would also like to know where is best to get this kind of stuff from in the UK
Completely new to home automation and want to slowly kit my house out
Where to get stuff and what to start with would help loads

Zigbee device market is very limited. I found some devices few months ago in couple of web stores but now I can't find anything.
I started to build my home automation environment with Z-Wave because there is much more devices available. I think Fibaro has best products and their build quality is great.
I ordered stuff from UK www.vesternet.com there is also www.eurox10.com and www.etotal.eu stores located in Europe.

Are you looking for drop in products that have either ZigBee or XBee built in or are you willing to get your own ZigBee and add it to the product. There are some North American products I could recommend that allow you to simply drop the ZigBee or XBee in by yourself.

Curious somewhat here about Zigbee.
Today I do utilize X-10, Insteon, UPB and Z-wave and some other stuff for my home automation sandbox.
Play with multiple controllers connected to whatever..drives wife a bit crazy here....
What kind Zigbee stuff can I play with and where can I get it? (near Chicago).

I always look a the main zigbee website where 1,000's of devices are listed.

I have been playing with these the last couple of weeks.

I have been building a custom controller for them. They use ZigBee to communicate. If you want to get into home security I have a couple of ideas for you too.

Thanks DiXie.
Interesting stuff.
Yup do recall having to childproof outlets many many years ago. It would have been nice to use safeplugs in their bedrooms at the time.
Curious about your integration relating to security and safety stuff?

I have been working with a ZigBee mesh network that has a central control panel, which right now is a Android Tablet using Bluetooth linked to a ZigBee module. Creating door and window sensors with modules because of their low power usage and high battery life. I have been integrating motion detectors to monitor additional activity around the house perimeter. I am going to pair these and have them run in parallel with my wireless security cameras.
Later on I plan to allow it to be protected on a website. Project should be complete within a few weeks.
The plan is to use the electrical outlets to change and dim lights as a deterrent in the process.

Thank you DiXiE. Yup home security and CCTV is a "hobby" along with automation here in the home sandbox.
I am currently in the transitional stages of moving my analog cams to IP HD cams; much new stuff out there...DIYing stuff lately...
I utilize both occupancy and PIR sensors today.

Both as I am "tinkering" of sorts; so will make stuff I cannot purchase or find.

The cool part with Almond+ is that it handles both ZigBee and Z-Wave. So even if you can't find a plug that uses ZigBee, you could have ZigBee sensors turn on a Z-Wave plug.

Hello everybody,
I'm looking for some DIY cheap sensors to be added to my Almond+. I'm new in home automation and I have some experiences with arduino sensors.
Do you think this PIR and temperature sensor could work with the Almond+ ?

Any comments are very welcome.

Highly unlikely as they're most likely not ZigBee HA compatible.
Go figure, but ZigBee is a bit of a mess and in general anything that comes with an open ZigBee stack is not HA compatible.
