I recently installed the almond +, not getting a strong connection on the 3rd floor in one room, any recommendations?
Also I have an OOMA and not sure why didn't work w/ cat 5 cable do you have to use USB cables and any other issues w/ VOIP installs w/ this?

The OOMA will require port forwarding to be configured. I found a mention of the ports needed on their support site:
http://support.ooma.com/home/advanced-connections-and-service-ports
As for range... Is the Almond+ near any metallic objects or other things between that room and it that might interfere with the wireless signal?

Thanks I will try to check out OOMA's site on the port forwarding...
The Almond doesn't have metal by it, it's in the basement, it is working now but randomly will get cut out in my daughter's room on the 3rd floor. It's not all the time. The old Comcast box worked fine up there.
I didn't want to have to use and extender as most people on the reviews of Almond said it got great range.

Basement to 3rd floor is pretty far with a number of obstacles (floors) it may be the positioning or range. 2.4Ghz will work better through obstacles than 5 will. I would try playing around with that.

I too put my Almond+ in the basement and had issues with the 5ghz, but the 2.4 worked ok. I ended up putting a 2nd Almond+ on the top floor wired as an access point. I did this to have the 5ghz signal better. Check different channels on the router and maybe other placement options.
