Post by: BrownChiLD on January 20, 2017, 01:48:44 am
Has there been any hardware improvements since Kickstarter release? Im looking to purchase another Almond+ (used) to play with, on ebay. seller claims it's part of KS release, back in 2015.
what are the significant differences in features/hardware in hardware if i purchased from 2015 batch compared to buying new now?

Almond+ is unchanged hardware.

A new model, the Almond 3, is available. It has a number of hardware differences.
IMO:
Plusses: WiFi mesh capabilities, smaller, allow for Z-Wave dongles which can be Z-Wave Plus.
Minuses: Smaller, less ports, Z-Wave not integrated.

1) isnt almond+ z-wave plus already? I'd imagine it is
2) will Almond 3 have the same web socket APIs and such?

To my knowledge Almond+ was/is Z-Wave only (not Plus). That came out after Almond+ was available. Of course Z-Wave Plus is backwards compatible.

As for APIs and such... While not something I am as knowledgeable of as I probably could be, the Almond 3 has them, so there is no present difference there.
