When is Mesh Network coming for the Almond+? :-)

Great question. "I will accept it is not" as an official yet disappointing answer that will put me out of my misery. 😉 however any response will do.

The thing is, during an interview from last year, they did mention that the functionality can be added via a firmware update and even work with the old Almond. I have 2 Almond+ devices and while the range extender feature is very nice, they have different SSIDs which can be annoying and since Almond+ was the flagship device, my question is not "whether" but "when?" -_^b

I suspect it will be making its way to the Almond+ and probably Almond 2015. I expect that it would be several firmware releases after the Almond 3's so they can be sure it is stable there before getting it onto another platform. Mesh between just Almond 3's or just Almond+'s or just Almond 2015's is probably easier than mesh between Almond+'s and Almond 3's and Almond 2015's on a mixed environment and is probably what will take the longest.

From what I can see from the features, the main thing that separates an Almond+ from an Almond 3 is the mesh network. If they made the Almond+ capable of mesh networking, it would be a better router because it would have a Z-Wave radio built in. With the Almond 3, you need a USB dongle to enable Z-Wave.

You need a dongle, but that dongle can be Z-Wave Plus, so that is nice. That is how I am using mine, plus the Almond+ as a backup network.

Z Wave Plus is a plus  ;D ;D :P but the Almond 3 is also smaller and has the built-in siren. I'd like to see my Almond+ become the mesh master for the Almond 3's I have but I wouldn't want to use Almond+'s as the mesh slaves throughout the house unless I already owned them.

The siren and LED are nice adds for the Almond 3 but will really be relevant when the primary can control those on meshed devices as well.
