Need to reboot Almond+ every 40 minutes
« on: October 08, 2014, 03:23:21 pm »
Hello, so I'm a backer from the Kickstarter. I have been using the Almond+ since I received it. The issue I'm having with the Almond is that I have to reboot it every hour. When I reboot it starts working right (100 mb download and 100 mb upload), but after an hour the speed decreases to 1mb/1mb. My guess is that this might be caused because I'm torrenting (not because I am downloading / uploading at a high speed, but probably because I have a lot of torrents working). Is there a way to fix this? This didn't happen on my dlink.

Hmmm, that's not normal behaviour, can you please email [suspicious]support@securifi.com[/suspicious] so we can get this diagnosed.

Similar problem here - was getting 12Mbps/0.7Mbps last night in QLD, Australia. This morning the speed was very slow, 3Mbps/0.41Mbps. And just now, it went to 0.5Mbps/0.27Mbps. I rebooted and I got it back up to 3.22Mbps/0.43Mbps. Tested on both AP and Router mode. Range extender mode doesn't work at all too - Picks up the signal but internet connection doesn't work.

If you haven't done it already, I would try a hard reset. While I wasn't re-booting as often as 40 mins, I was having similar issues, and finally resolved it by doing a hard re-set. Just remember to back up your settings, as these will be wiped out and you will have use the backup file to re-load your settings onto the router...

Just done it - doesn't make any visible difference... Performance is still roughly the same.

I had this issue with my Linksys EA6500.

At start I would get 50M x 5M. Over unknown time it would decrease and I would have to restart it to get proper speeds. After owning the 6500 for a few months and noticing the issue, I would check it frequently and it varied from a few hours to a few days before I'd have to restart for this issue.

Never solved and one of the reasons I looked at the Almond.

So far, I've not had the issue with the Almond+.

I know this is probably caused by my usage, since this has happened to me with Linksys and Asus routers. Don't really remember after what time I had to reboot my linksys, but with the Asus it was at least every 24 hours. With Almond + previous firmware I needed to reboot every 12 hours. But with the latest it is every 40 minutes or less. I currently switched to my Dlink (don't need to reboot this one), I will probably try the Almond+ again once the the stability is increased and the 5 ghz actually works.
