Any hope to fix extreme Buffer Bloat?

Since the A+ is still on 5+ year old version of the Linux kernel (2.6.36, released in 2010) and an equally ancient build of OpenWRT (Kamikaze, last public release also in 2010), is there any hope that some method of buffer bloat control will be made available?

Overall I've happy with the A+ as a wireless router and aspiring home automation platform.

However the excessive bufferbloat (as shown in testing on DSL Reports' website) is causing problems with low latency applications like gaming and interactive streaming.

Less Jurassic versions of OpenWRT support Smart Queue Management which can help greatly with bufferbloat.

Back in 2014 Lars was saying the Cortina was going to release a 3.4.x linux kernel, did this ever happen?

I realize Securifi is busy on the Almond 3 (which presumably doesn't run last decade's software) but how about a bone for us A+ kickstarters?

The Chipset manufacturer went through a change of ownership. At that point, manufacturer support was no longer forthcoming.

This has been well documented in other threads on the subject and it's still disappointing news no matter where you read it.

Thanks @SecureComp, I wasn't sure if anything had changed since the last messages (that I could find) about it were posted over a year ago.

I'm assuming the "G2 QOS" in the menu is proprietary, is there any way to use this to work on the bufferbloat a little?
