Reset Z-Wave controllers
« on: November 29, 2014, 11:39:24 am »
We bought a house that had a few ZWave devices already installed. Problem is that I dont have access to the old primary controller - is there a way for the Almond+ to send out a reset to all the devices within range?  I would love to get these on my Almond+!

Thanks in advance!

It doesn't quite work like that.

Yes, the Almond+ can reset any Z-Wave sensor, but you need to bring them within about 3 feet of the Almond+ and you need to find out how to pair/unpair the sensors. Normally there's a button somewhere that needs to be pressed in a specific way, usually once, sometimes three times. It can be a tamper switch, something on the back of the sensor etc. Also, it's not guaranteed that the sensors you have will work, but if they're basic device types, they should work.
On the Almond+ side, you simply go to Add Device, Remove and then do whatever you have to do on each sensor to activate the pairing process. Then Add and the same thing again on the sensor to add it to the Almond+.

This is the way Z-Wave works, it's also a means of security, as no-one can simply send out a broadcast to reset all sensors.
