I have my Almond + acting as an extender for my 2nd gen AirPort Extreme, I can see the two networks from the almond just fine but when trying to connect to them from my iPhone or iPad it takes an awful long time to connect and when my devices are asleep or stand by mode and I swipe to login and get the home I see the wireless connect then it instant disconnects if I wait a period of time from 1min up to 3 it finially reconnects.

I have adjusted the security encryption to match the AP extreme still same result. Anyone one else seeing the disconnects.

Thks all
Matt

I've seen issues with iOs devices on the 5ghz band network. Are you connecting them to the 5 or 2.4 band network?

Connecting on both 2.4 and 5ghz the connection will drop and then my devices just take forever to reconnect. It's still range extender mode and I'm not sure if that is the problem just know my old network is rock solid still and the almond+ is not living up to my expectations thus far

Just ran a network scan while the problem was occurring and I cannot even see the almond+ on the network.

What happens if you put the Almond in router or AP mode, instead of bridge mode?
It seems like router mode has the least bugs.

Yeah I am going to try that next, since I just confirmed I had to hard reboot the device to get anything to connect to it.

I have now switched from Range Extender to AP Mode, plugged directly into my exiting network. So far so good all iOS devices are connecting just fine on both 5ghz and 2.4ghz network, I am seeing significant higher throughput from my old wifi network (2nd Gen AirPort Extreme) as well as much greater ranger and signal quality. I have not see any disconnects yet I have the 2.4ghz network set for 20mhz channel band and the 5Ghz in the 80mhz channel band. I will continue to test in AP mode and then switch it to Router Mode and test so more.

As a side note I would like to mount the Almond+ half way up my wall in my computer room but need a longer cable. Besides me cutting and splicing in a new length of cable is there going to be an offering of a longer cable I can purchase.

Thanks everyone for the help so far.

Matt

If you're looking for a new network cable, you can buy one for a about a dollar at monoprice.com.

If you're looking for a DC cable, you could do a PoE (power over ethernet) injector and splitter. If you get a really cheap one, make sure you run two cables to the router- one for power only and one for data. (The cheap ones only run at 100Mbps, and not 1000Gbps).

You can also get a DC extension cable at Amazon. I'm not sure if this is the right size, but it's what I'm thinking about. http://www.amazon.com/2-1mm-5-5mm-Female-Power-Extension/dp/B00FV5ECPI
